Boostaddict- I would give you 7-7500 for the car.

I picked up a built 92 tsi awd that needs a small amount of tlc for 5000 the other day.

Getting an idea of what my TSi is worth. Here are the goods..

1995 FWD TSi 127k on the body.

1998 Eclipse front end (being painted this week)

Rebuilt 99' 7 bolt (321 miles as off today)

Reman'd 1st gen head, Throttle body, manifold. (Done right, NO CEL's)

magnecore wires

dejon tool i/c piping

new OEM mounts and all new gaskets, etc used for rebuild with receipts.

ISC/FIAV and EGR block-off

EVOIII 16g clipped and ported

FP ported 7cm manifold and 16g install kit

R*SR 80mm downpipe and catback, with 3" hi-flow catco cat. (I just ordered a MR o2 housing)

KYB GR2 shocks and eibach sport springs

Rebuilt trans with new bell housing, SpecII Stage3 clutch and lightened flywheel (MFG. unknown)

Short shifter, again unknown make.

I think that is it. All power options work, sunroof too (No leaks) i retained a/c and cruise control, although i am lacking one a/c line to get it working.

Its in perfect running shape right now, i haven't really been in it, waiting on a tune with 550's and an AFC...for now.

Here is some pictures. (It has all bumper lights now, just no pics...waiting on painted bumper before new photos)

I got the car for $700. Comes with after market air intake and exhaust. I think its a little too big for the car tho =D Like 3' LOL

Well ive been looking into getting a dsm for some time now, and i came across a 90 talon tsi AWD for sale today. From what i can see in the pics the body looks like its in fairly good shape and it has a rebuilt motor with 2g pistons, a front mount, and removed balanced shafts. The guy says all it needs to run is a downpipe and a new ECU. He only lives 15 minutes away so i was gonna go take a look at it this weekend, and i was just wondering what i should really pay attention to. I know im gonna take a look at the side that isnt pictured and ask him about the tranny condition, but what else??? Here's a link to the pictures.

90 eagle talon tsi - Houston-Imports.com

the car dosent look to bad, to bad you cant run it and check it out a little more. be wary of the ecu issue, find out why it needs a new one( like whether its gonna be a nightmare getting it running and acting right) check wiring harnesses and connectors for completeness and quality, also if it has a battery check all the accesorys you can to see that they function

doesnt look like a bad car at all really, hes put some time into it obvisously, but for $1250...i mean if you look at it and it loks good and everything, id offer him $1000 and see if he bites...

let us know when you go look at it in person, its always different in person...

I don't know if I can't tell right but it looks like there's balance shafts in one of the pictures. I don't know what's up with that.

find a 90 ecu and put it in to make sure it runs. 90 has to have a 90 ecu or you can use another 1g ecu with some moving of the pins. doesnt look to bad.

offer him low ball amount to see if hes going to negotiate. (sp) dont say something like 500 but along the lines of 900ish

Thanks for all the good replies guys, ill deffinately keep all those things in mind. Im gonna call him today and ask him what exactly he means by "the bad ecu". I also forgot to mention that i dont mind it being a project car or not running immediately because i have a daily driver, I just dont wanna buy it thinking its a badass deal and spend a shitload just to get it running up to par. Its really hard to pass up though because its virtually impossible to find a stockish dsm around here for under 5k.

Wow the guy said hed take 700 for it because apparently he REALLY needs the space. Should i pick this up ASAP or what??

So I'm looking to buy this 91 eclipse gsx. I went to check it out today and I wanted some input from you guys. The car is selling for $900. The car is 141,000 miles on it. The body is in excellent condition, no dents, NO RUST! The whole undercarriage of the car looks brand new, there is no rust or anything. The interior looked great as well. So now the ugly part, under the hood. When I arrived the bumper was already removed, along with the bumper support. There was a small front mount with really small piping, like 1.5" diameter. The exhaust manifold was removed and a couple studs were broken (no biggy). The A/C was poorly removed, he had left all the wiring and lines still in. He had removed the fuel rail and installed a Walbro 255 with no FPR and was wondering why the new spark plugs were fouling. The car needs a shift fork, FPR, and throwout bearing. He has all of the parts sitting in the car they just have to be installed. The tires on it are brand new and it also has a sunroof that doesn't leak! The exhaust needs a muffler as well. So here's my question, is it worth it for the price? If it is and I end up buying it, what do you guys suggest I look at first seeing as it has so many miles? Obviously the typical maintenance, belts, tensioner pulley, fluids, etc.

bro it could be a whole lot worse, think about it. my 90' gsx wasent even firing when i bought it and i paid 1500 for it. dont pass it up man, thats dirt cheap for the potential of a 6bolt awd dsm. trust me if you get it and filter out the bugs, YOU WONT BE DISAPOINTED !

900 bucks in such cherry condition you say it is. Hell if I had the cash to throw around or if I didn't already own a GSX I'd jump on it. The rest is easy, just start wrenching, sounds like he's giving it away. New tires alone is about half the price your paying for it. Hell I was gonna buy a 95 TSI AWD for a parts car for 1500. I wish I had the room I can tinker till my hearts content, I'd buy that bad boy.

I would def buy it. I juts got my 91 GSX for $2650. Body has its flaws and the interior is a disaster. Other than that it just needs some work under the hood.

Why not. You get what you pay for. If you know your way around cars... go for it. I picked up my 96 spyder gs for 700. A few small problems but I love the car so.
