This is the
IS THIS CAR WORTH $XXXXX?
dumping ground.
If we can't sit in it, start it up, drive it and listen to it, we can't appraise it.

1995 GS-T, ORIGINAL OWNER IT HAVE ALMOST 76000 THE CAR IS WELL MAINTAIN AND TAKING CARE OF NEW CLUTCH ABOUT 2 MONTH OLD +TUNE UP BRAKE PADS +DRILLED ROTORS +17" KONIC W/PIRELLI SP7000 HALF WAY OLD TIRES HKS EXHAUST TINTED WINDOWS VIPER ALARM SUN ROOF LEATHER 6 CD CHANGER K&N INTAKE FILTER.

I am looking at this car and what to know what you guys think it is worth. Thank you.

My car had 72000, evry option,an automatic and i paid $3700 That isn't what they wanted for but i got it for that.

haha dsm style... you really should get an AWD, LOL but in reality I wouldn't pay anything over 9k for any pre 97 mitsu's, unless perfect. you should get a awd stock/fresh so you can do the mods and have the fun of swinging that ass all over the place hahahaha

I hear that, take there advise! AWD is a blast! I got my 95 gsx for 7k , its near mint and runs strong!

1994 turbo talon FWD

immaculate condition in and out
55,000 miles
drove by old lady so not abused
power EVERYTHING
alloys
cd/tape player
leather
no rips in anything
a/c
AUTOMATIC =/

would u pay $3000 and later jus sell it??

Price sound good.

My one concern, and I could be wrong. In '94 did these cars have a CD/Tape player from the factory? If they didn't, it would seem strange unlikely to me that "a little old lady" would have an aftermarket unit installed.

Just thinking out loud.

honestly no...but from what i've experienced, alot less head aches then when i had my 5 speed NT 1.8 eclipse..(which i still have)...so yea...its more of a comfort/speed issue now..power everything and a/c is something my other car didn't have..oh yea..and the TURBO...hehe...but anyway..i could deal with it...miles are correct as well...

It comes down to what you want. Some people get an AT because it is all they can find, and then regret it for as long as they own the car. If you really are happy with it, then the low miles would seal the deal for me. If you do get it, take it for a good service and get the belts changed etc and it should treat you right for a while.

If you ask me, manual is the only way to go... especially if you want to race... it's so much more fun.

hey, there is this guy who has a 1991 eagle talon tsi awd. it has 200000KM on it. but his timing belt broke, and now he needs a new engine. evrything is in absolutely mint condition. he is asking $1000CDN. would it be worth it to buy it??? like how much would it cost to get a new engine or if possible, rebuilt this one???? thanks boys

with the money conversion i say yes. but and i mean BUT 200km on it and he broke his engine makes you kinda think. Like what did he do. Anyways look for engine rust and trans probs. like loud clacking and look for under the car for axels or something... good luck

you'll have to look around your area. Find prices on a swap and a rebuild. You may be able to find a good complete engine, and have it swapped. Id say the swap shouldnt be more than $500 unless you go to a dealership. Just make sure you know the place well, and get a good warranty. In your area (I lived in GP for many years) you should be able to find a rusted out DSM with a good engine.

I'd allow $3500 bucks for all the work, including engine, clutch(its out anyway) maybe exaust, and all the assorted fluids you should do when it is out. It may seem high at first, but #@%#@%#@%#@% always crops up when you do these things. Add that to the first thou and you have $4500 canadian. I payed only slighty more than that for my 91, but I have $6500 total into it now including the cost, so you should do ok.

Make DAMN sure there is no rust, and run the VIN to check for large accidents, stolen/recovered, or other such nastiness. You want to have a good one at the end of all your hard work, not a cobbled togeather nitemare that you just wanna get rid of, but can't because its a lemon.

Best of luck

My friend is selling his 1991 talon tsi 5spd with 100,000 miles. He bought the car about 5 months ago and said he hasn't had any problems other than a few seals which have been replaced. The guy he bought it from said he upgraded the turbo but is not sure what was done to it. It has the stock TDO5H letters on the turbo housing. It has an HKS fuzzy green intake with a large black cylinder after it. The clutch was upgraded to hold more power. It been lowered with a Nuespeed kit and a brake upgrade all around. Tires have about 70% tread. I have been in it a few time with friends and estimate the hp at about 280 and the stock boost gauge hit 14psi. I didn't know how to drive a 5spd so he taught me on the test drive and everything felt good and it pulled hard. The seats show wear and a small tear and a few small cracks in the paint around the bumper. He had a mechanic check it over and everything was good and the average compression was 150. He didn't have any paperwork so I am going to take it to my mechanic to have it checked. What should the compression be at and are there any other specific things that need to be checked. I think he paid $3800 and would take that, does that seem okay if everything checks out or could I find a better deal.

Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for the time and advice.

with a turbo upgrade, intake, clutch, etc I'd estimate about $3000. Not a bad deal for a good 6 bolt bolt motor.

why should you pay as much as he did 5 months ago? he used the car and put miles on it, don't pay $3800, see how low he goes

Typical DSMer response....

Why should what *he* paid be relative to what the car's worth is? If he got a killer deal on the car back when he bought it (say $500), does that mean that it's only worth $400 now?

The car is *worth* whatever it's *WORTH*. What he paid for it doesn't reflect its value in the least bit.

Good point if it where someone you didn't know. But amongst friends why must one screw his buddy. If he wants more he shouldn't be selling to a friend. Sorry........my $.02

He had the car for 5 months, and obviously put some money/time into it. I don't think he'd be "screwing" his friend by asking what he paid for it. Of course, he'll want to buy it as cheaply as possible. But on the flip side, the owner of it now shouldn't get screwed either if he's a friend. IMHO, I'd probably sell it to somone I didn't know for whatever he can get out of it.

Today I called Diomond Star Specialist in San Luis Obispo wher the car was checked and they said the lifters were ticking becaus it was 2 quarts low on oil so they put oil in and fixed it. They also said the transfer case was leaking and may get fixed by a dealer becaus of a recal. They verifed the compression was 150 average. Should I look for another car or should the engine still be in good condition?
