I would find a good speed shop in your area that know dsm's. Tell them wha you want for 16k and they will give you ideas.

okay i have a 98 GSX and a 95 Gsx, i have 16K to invest in the 98, Other then the Stage 3 shep Trans, and the 6 bolt Swop.. what should i invest in from DsmLink to 272 Cams, if you can list Mods that are most important to keep in mind please...

I'll just :D and skip the politics...

The first thing I'd do is spend whatever you need to (smartly of course) to get every single maintenance item taken care of, and replace anything that you aren't sure of. (timing components, etc).

Then if it's going to be a nice street car/daily driver...I'd spend a little time and effort on whatever related items that may be important to you, given that goal (new rear hatch struts, carpet, bling-bling rims, etc).

If you just wanna go fast and don't care about looks... I'd still do the maintenance and then start following the upgrade paths. Take your time and research ALOT.

Budget yourself, and save as much for replacing broken parts as you spend on go-fast parts.

Sounds like fun... good luck with it :thumb:

To me, investing $16k in a 10 year old car is stupid. Then again, I'm going to be a freshmen in college and would rather use all that money for tuition.

But shit you could invest like, $6k and still have a badass car. Then if stuff starts going out, you'd still have some money to fix it and make it better.

I also believe that going all out at once is kind of stupid.. You get everything installed and rush to get it all running right and tuned. If you want to go all out, I'd work on certain things at a certain time. You know, get the suspension beefed up, serviced and tuned. Learn how to drive with that suspension setup, learn trial and error. The stock brakes on AWD are great, but if you're planning on doing a lot of road racing/auto x, you'll want to look into some brake upgrades.

Once you start learning the basics, get your important engine management stuff out of the way. DSMLink, Wideband, etc. Start by learning how to tune while you're all stock, you'll have a lot less chance of making a big "uh oh" with a stock fuel system and all that. Make sure you've got a good knock sensor, plugs, wires, o2 sensor, etc. etc. etc.

Build your motor and get it ready to swap. 2G transmissions aren't too terrible for what they are. IMO I'd just drive the stock tranny until she's ready to go. If it has some abuse or high mileage though, I'd look into a rebuild with double synchros and other better parts.

While your motor is being built, start acquiring all your supporting mods. Get your front mount on and your piping routed, figure out which turbo you want *atleast a 35R.. ;) *, figure out what fuel system you want to go with, get all your lines and what not, 1G Intake Manifold and Throttle body, cast-iron manifold with external wastegate, tial wastegate and bov, etc.

Of course you can go with whatever parts you want. Leave the exterior how it is, The 2GB is purely sex on wheels and is perfect the way it is. Maybe some new wheels with some good street tires on them. Interior is already pretty nice, especially if you scored black leather interior.

Probably my best advice is to not go all out at once, budget and plan very, VERY wisely. I walked into my build with a tight budget and not a lot of planning and am having a hard time figuring things out. I still need a block and crank for my forged internals. Best of luck.

I've already got quite a few parts for my project car:
Ostrich/ Tuner Pro-RT
Black leathers
Steel radiator
ACT 2600
Fidanza Flywheel
Spearco 216 FMIC
SS Exhaust
GM Maf/ translator
Aeromotive FPR
Walbro 255
HKS BOV
Hallman Pro RX MBC
Gauges
DNP Manifold
open dump
50 trim
Turbo timer
4 bolt
3000gt vr4 brakes
Comp 200 cams
Koni shocks
Eibach springs
JIC camber plates
5zigen w. 255 RA1s

What's getting ordered next week:
Momo shift knob <3
In cab adapter MBC
TRE center dif spool
Brake lines
Cam gears

I'm debating on a few things:
FP race manifold- one for me, one for 60-1
Carbon Fiber hood/ headlight covers
Start on my silver car and get the 2.4 block started
1000 + injectors for E85 (since I was just going 750 to get me by)
Clear timing belt cover (Secks)

^ Any suggestions?

I would definitely suggest getting DSMLink if you have the money for it...especially if you are planning on larger injectors. If you have lots of money, then go with the aem ems. It all depends on what you are planning to do with the car.

Sorry, edited that..
But I have Ostrich for tuning. Love it!!! :)

My plans for the future is make it reasonably fast/ kinda a bit showy. I have my dd I hope to hit 11s in. Already hit 12.3. I have my faster car (the 2.4 that may get worked on) and this is the kinda middle child :p

But the CF would be nice since the hood is rather oxidized. I'll get money next week #1 it's my bday.. #2 I'm selling a car. And unfortunately we don't have an AWD dyno anywhere close.

The incab adapter was on MAPerformance.com. It's like 70$ or so.
