Yes, cams make power. ACT 2600 and ACT flywheel is a good combo, most shops charge $300-$400+ to install them.

That's what I thought too, but I realized that's his mod list. He's asking what he should get next.
 
hey ive got a completely stock 1g talon tsi(except for free mods). Ive got about 1000$ to spend on a few mods and i was looking for some feedback from other people with more expeirence? And yes i have read the staged upgrade paths, i am just looking other opinons/ideas.....thanks a lot for any input
 
1) Free mods (there's a few of them you might had missed)
2) Intake
3) Exhaust
4) Boost Controller (manual or EBC)

If you wish, you can buy new shocks/struts and springs to make you handle better. An older car might need to have these replaced.
 
1000 dollars ...... 190 fuel pump 3 inch down pipe ,3inch intake from maf to turbo, poly urethane motor mounts , 2g ported mani . Port yourself , Id look for a used 16g diffentley much better performance. That would eat a thousands and put you in a mid to low 13s Most people may argue with me on this but id use the hks fel cut defencer also for 90 dollars.

wow thats sick was that on a 14b? wouldnt youneed bigger injectors and a mbc and bg? thats insane tho haha o yeah and a fpr
 
I'd highly suggest just saving the money. Get the car running completely great. Get it nice like it just drove off the lot. If you start modding without it running awesome, lots of stuff will begin to break... trust me. This is where DSM's got their "unreliable" reputation. Kids just buy a car and slap on a turbo, turn the boost up, and go do some runs and break stuff. However, if they just did it right, had the car running correctly before they started modding it, it would not have broken. Just look around, check the maintenence records, and do stuff that looks like and/or is scheduled to be done. Your car will LOVE you, and treat you good in return!
 
Find a 16g,a 190lph f/p and 550cc injectors and you will be fast and reliable. You need full turbo back. But make sure you are tuned up plugs,wires,belts,hoses first.
 
Hey guys, i got 1990 Eclipse GS -turbo,as you can see it on my profile....

and now im looking to do some modifications.I got saved 1200 $
my question is where would i spend those money into? (i mean what kind of parts should i get)
i was thinking to do the fuel system,like 550 Injectors,SAFCII and FPR.
or to get a Full 3in Turboback exhaust system
what do you guys think it would be better to do first or there is some other things that i have to do before these things that i named....

ok well first of all, make sure all the maintenance is up to date.

check oil
tranny fluid
timing belt and all the accesories

now modding...

since you already have an upgraded fuel pump, you should go with bigger injectors and something to control it. in my opinion you should get a hold of the 2g mas($80 total for everything you need) and some 550's or some 650-680cc inj (would not recommend anything larger than evo VIII 560cc, or it will be more difficult to tune with SAFC, you will need an EPROM and a chip)

if you get the bigger injectors, you will also need something to control it. since dsmlink, eprom ecu and socketing is very expensive, i suggest getting SAFC II and a logger. i bought logger cables for $15 and came with the software needed to log on my laptop.

3" turbo back for sure. you will notice a huge difference.

FMIC setup would be great. i'm sure you can get one for $200-400.

act 2100 clutch...$300 new, around $100+ used

550cc inj- $200
SAFC- $200
logger cables/ software- $15
3" exhaust around $300 ish
FMIC- $300
act 2100- $150
(optional------2g mas set up)
that should be a little over $1k. you cant go wrong with that set up (planning on doing this eventually). like i said make sure you are kept up with maintenance before you start modding.

also, i saw the picture of your BOV in your profile and it seems like you are venting it. you need to recirculate the bov back into your intake. you are running very rich, your car is not as fast as it should be.
 
My suggestion is perform ALL maintenance. And I mean ALL of it. Timing belt, tires, bushings, wires, plugs, alignments and whatever else needs to be.

Of course this will run you way over a grand though. But the price is high of doing things right.:thumb:


But if you really must drop your cash on mods, then get your suspension done and out of the way.
Koni yellows + gc coilovers + bushings and sways.
 
yeaah im venting to atmosphere,btw i dunno why my idle didn't change after i disconnect the airintake hose from blow of valve :confused: .my friend tryed to take that hose from his talon stock blow off valve and the car just died,but mines doesn't do any changes, if im venting to the atmosphere or recirculating....

entire second 1g, hah. true.. what nobody mentioned is before you start modding you're gonna need a boost gauge for sure.. good idea to have exhaust gas temp aswell.. and as earlier mentioned.. if you're not in perfect running order, get there before you mod.
 
i would definitly have the timing belt and balance shaft belt changed before before doing any mods. i took mine in to have done when i first bought the car. labor was like 200 and parts cost like 100 or so. so i would definitly do that first if it hasnt already been done. good luck!

You may be able to get some used stuff for cheaper. You definately need to do the routine maintenance stuff before modding, or you're just going to have problems.
 
I figured out last night that I can spend around $300 on "performance parts" and not go broke! I need some suggestions though -from people who have upgrades in their car- on what to put in my nearly bone-stock Eclipse GSX. ( I only have a K&N Air Filter.

Hard air intake pipe(home depot, or eBAY)
Boost guage (aftermarket since the stock one is very inaccurate)
MBC($$$ depends on where you get it from)
NGK BPR7es plugs>>>$2.00 each (roughly)
eBAY turbo-back exhaust or custom weld one (both would be cheap)
If you dont have emmisions do a cat-delete
Port the 14B>>>free
