His stepdad is an ASA certified mechanic and has been working on cars for the past 15 years. As far as I know, the installation of all parts will be done by him, but anything that needs tuning will be taken to a local performance shop.

I have a 1g, so I'm not sure if this doesn't apply, but I have a 16g w/o either an AFC or a FMIC.

I would personally recommend the turbo over the FMIC, and just keep the boost lowish. The 16G is a great turbo, I have the "small" one from SlowBoy Racing. Mike Huml there is a great guy, very personable. I got everything I needed in short order without a problem. The turbo pulls great, is strong all the way to redline (I noticed a difference even being stock otherwise).

yea i was actually thinking of getting 550's and a fuel pump with the extra money.....i was referring to where to spend the bulk of the money in this thread.

yea ive looked over slowboy racings site...someone was also saying something about precison turbos? anybody know anything about those?

Tell your friend to log onto this site, read the tuning guide and realize that this question has been awnsered more than 50+ times a month. Theres seriosuly no sense in posting this as a new thread without doing proper research.

If hes got 4g's to blow on the car then he needs to make sure to do proper maitainance on the car and do the timing belt if it hasn't been done recently. Also check the fluids and all the other good stuff! :D

ported/clipped big16g, 255 fuel pump, FPregulator

save the rest for when the car CW's so its not sitting in the driveway till you get enough built up for it. honestly, after thinking about it a JDM engine can be had for 1k and that would be a WISE investment. the reason i'm saying this is i was looking at 2 NICE 2g's in the shop the had CW so its fresh in my mind
 
I think ill probably go with slowboy racing's big 16g with a fuel pump and injectors (if i can afford it after install and everything). then get it on the dyno to get the SAFC t00ned
 
Forced Performance has a kit with a ported Evo3 16G, O2 housing, pump, and mbc for a little more than what you are talking about spending. Might be worth looking into.

Ditto. But for 4g's, if the cars in good shape, he should be able to max out the stock turbo then move on to a turbo upgrade and the supporting mods for it. The turbo he goes with should be based upon how much power he is trying to make.

Well about a month ago she was involved in a hit & run . . . nothing serious. Just parked in the parking lot . . . the right rear fender was scraped up and the paint on the bumper is peeling off.

So the check from the insurance company came in (~800) and I'm wondering what I should get. So far I have:

+K&N Fipk
+ES Bushings
+EVO III O2
+3" DP & Test Pipe
+Apexi N-1 Cat-Back
+HKS SSQV (recirculating of course . . .)
+Apexi EL Boost Gauge
+Blitz Dual DC Turbo Timer

+Front & Rear RM Sway Bars

Think that's it for the 'performance' parts . . . I was thinking of maybe getting:
+IC pipes & Intake
+DSMLink
+Springs & Shocks
+Strut tower bars
+Schroth Rallye III harnesses


What do you guys think . . .?

800's not gunna get you much off your list. But at least you can get some good stuff.

The 1st list is stuff I've already done . . . the second (shorter) list were possible ideas that I've had.

But I do agree that 800 wont get a WHOLE lot done . . . but it's something :D
 
Cut the bottleneck and ditch the T-25. The rest of the stuff is lower priced and you can do them in chunks.
