Who here has EVER seen a warped block deck on a 2g??? The answer is no one, not to mention from what my machinist told me you can not deck these blocks as there is no spec simply a discard value. Really, as close as the valves are to the pistons in the 4G63, do you want to remove any material period, not me. I will be using a Mitsu MLS gasket with ARP top and bottom (rods + mains) and a freshly planed race ported and polished head. Make sure to use the lube ARP includes and torque to their recommended spec in steps.

hmm, interesting.

Jet, i ran over 25 psi everytime i was at the track on the stock head gasket with arp studs, never had one problem what so ever

you know what buschar runs stock HG's??? because no one can make a metal one right!

see, larry did it the easy way, tok me at least 4 hours to get the head off my gsx. i took everything off, timing belt, covers, pulleys, intake manifold came out. turbo, all the lines. every little thing, only things that were left were that block and tranny.

putting it back together is a biotch. have fun with the a/c bracket and motor mount
=o)

I had to deck the block on my 1G. I think they had to take off .007"-.010"

Not the stock headstuds. It'll lift above 20psi from what I have heard. Your mileage may vary but 20psi is a safe guideline.

Like I have said, there is really no reason to run metal HG especially if the block is not decked. There is no guarantee it will seal well. The stock composite will fix the problem if the block & head is not totally flat.

IMO, If something were to break when detonation happens. I would be cheaper to do the HG than something else.

Im not using stock head studs, im using ARP head studs.. and you say there is no reason to run metal head gasket, well apparently there is as my stock head gasket wasnt up to the task and is blown now?!?

Things break Larry. It happens. If I remember correctly, you were running 20-25psi sporadically when you first got the car, while you were trying to get her running good. Then straight to 20-22psi on a daily basis. Something is gonna go! You can't buy a turbo car, modify it, and then when a part breaks you figure it must be because the part was a POS. It does't work that way.

The stock HG and ARP studs will allow you to run the boost you want and will last you a long time. With the ARP head studs and a stock HG, you'll be fine. I know too many people who have gone metal head gasket for the same reasons you are thinking and a couple weeks later, they switched back to a stock HG. The choice is yours and it is your car. We are all just trying to help you out.

damn, where are the people who told me to get the metal head gasket at.. im gonna ***** slap em.. now im in a toss up.. do I get another stock head gasket or do i stick with the metal one I have sitting in the garage.. :(

DONT REPLY HERE.. I WANT TO CREATE A NEW TOPIC ABOUT THIS.. I HAVE 3 DAYS TO MAKE UP MY MIND..
