We got the car on the road last weekend and I've been driving it all week. On Wednesday I had the car aligned to my specs and I am very happy with how it handles on the street. We were experiencing a very odd buzzing noise that almost sounded like a rapping on deceleration. My first guess was the transfer case was making noise but when I got it up in the air to take a look I noticed the dump tube was hitting the front cross member. I had to bust out a grinder and make some more room but all is good and the noise is gone.
We've had a few little things come up. We lost interior power with the key off which turned out to be the fusible link holder that attaches to the battery needed to be cleaned up and a fuse replaced. The passenger side front half shaft is blowing grease past the outer CV boot even though there is no sign of a rip. I suspect the clamp is loose. It will have to be replaced. The biggest disappointment and biggest hit to the budget is the radiator. We are using a Griffen Scirocco radiator that uses epoxy to seal the end tanks. That seal has split away from the tanks on both sides allow the radiator to weep just a hint of fluid when we drive it. Its loosing about 2-3oz a day. We ordered a new AFCO Sirocco radiator from summit racing. The AFCO unit has welded end tanks and a drain valve. Should be here today.
This weekend is our last full day to prep the car for testing at Beaverun. We hope to get the trailer hitch installed, brake/radiator cooling ducts installed, hood switched, wiring for the trailer lights, wiring for the in car electronics, and whatever else we can find. Its going to be a busy day.
