This is God's way of telling you to have a normal DD while you work on your Conquest. Listen to God.

This is God's way of telling you to have a normal DD while you work on your Conquest. Listen to God.

that will never happen,... plus I think there was a much greater meaning behind it that actually makes sense.

Plus ray said I could DD the mirage while Im working on getting either of them running, so thats TOTALLY out of the question.

Plus, I don't have the money for much more than a shell anyways, so what good is it to acknowledge that I need something I don't have the money for. Its like telling a homeless person to go buy a house so they aren't homeless anymore.

Sorry to see your car messed up but at least your ok and able to build another one up:thumb:

So how about swapping the motor out of the wrecked Talon and install it in the Starion? The Starion has a blown motor, the Talon has a wrecked body. It seems like a good match. You could make a few bucks partng out the leftover parts to fund the swap.

I'm very back and forth on the whole deal. On the face of it, that would seem like the most logical thing to do. Unfortunately, the transmission does not bolt up, so modifications would be required (see attached photos). I currently have no car whatsoever, and am a full time student. The fastest way for me to get back on the road would be to pick up another 1g and swap everything over. It would also be relatively cheap. I'm greatly considering doing the 4g63 into the conquest swap as well at the moment, but that requires custom work, as mentioned. In all honesty, thats what I want to do most, I think. I've been so back and forth between the two possibilities I don't know what to do anymore. The conquest always was planned to be my primary DD, and this swap would really get the ball rolling. Unfortunately, the t56 flywheel made for use with the starquests only comes in the 6 bolt variant, so this 7 bolt motor is better suited for another dsm. There is reason behind going either way, and at the moment I haven't made a concret decision. I think in the long run, the conquest would be the best, but getting to and from school over the next couple of weeks will be rather hard. There is a possible car I might get loaned from a buddy, so if I can get that worked out quickly, I'd be willing to take the extra time to focus on the conquest and get that running. I think the only parts needed for that deal would be an exhaust and external wastegate at the moment. This is going to be a rather elaborate swap though, as I want it to look 100% oem, especially the wiring. I want to be able to take it to a smog shop thats never seen a starquest before and doesn't really care about the visual and have them pass it, hopefully that can be done. The swap cannot be legalized in california, I've already explored that option and had extensive conversations with a california state ref.

LMK what you guys think, conquest or dsm. Which would you do if you were carless. Both require a motor swap, ones just a touch easier than the other.

What's the deal with legalizing the swap?

its impossible to legally do the swap because there is no carb certified rwd intake manifold. Also, the transmission is veiwed as part of the engine assembly and required for a legal swap. AKA my conquest would have to use a dsm fwd or awd tranny, or the sohc head and the d50's WEAK ass tranny. Not that I would be making power on an n/a sohc carb head. I know some people are fooling themselves trying to do it legally right now on the starquest forums, but I DRILLED a local state ref for about 2 hours about all the details, and it can't legally be done.

que triste

1g does sound easier,... but the thought of having only 1 car during college is so much more appealing that two. I don't need the extra expenses. If I did pick up another 1g shell, I wouldn't use my fuel lines though, which means I could use an oem intake manifold and therefore the oem smic/evo III 16g. The conquest will be getting the 20g for sure. Probably only 10psi again. I don't think a DD needs massive power, especially at this point in my life. maybe I'll go to some track days and plug the wastegate once its done, LOL

Buy my caged 1g shell and call it a day bro. You literally have everything it needs to get going and you'll be set.

That totally sucks! What a clean 1G to die. Glad you are ok and the 1G took the blunt of it for you.

I'd say swap the 4G63 into the starion, I have a friend in Walnut Creek that works at a smog station.

Haven't seen you since the meet ages ago. I've been hanging out with the Evo crowd and just sold my clean 98 TSi AWD. I'd like another 1G but I don't think my wife will go for that with the Evo around.

Oh shit, crazy crash. Glad you're doing okay. You have a SQ too? LOL I sold mine and went DSM. I always contemplated on the 4G63 swap from the G54b... but it's too much work and I never have enough time. I miss my old Quest, it was a fun ass car to drive. Especially with the EVO3 turbo in it and running around with no cats and opened up intake. Ah, great car.

Sorry to hear about your car but glad you're doing okay.

glad to see your ok i know how you feal i had a 92 and it got wrecked but i found a 91 with a blown motor and swaped themover and got my new car. well i think i live kinda close if you need help with enything let me know

edit, I guess you can't tell on the youtube video, the spoiler is scratched to hell.

yeah, id never buy a 2g,... too ugly, hahaha..

guess you guys didn't notice that second video,... the cam gear shattered, im hoping the valves are fine ### the motor was most likely stopped by then. the timing belt is still tensioned and intact. part of the cam gear is jammed between the two gears ironically....
