Can you comment more on why you need a CARB certified intake manifold?
I posted some sheets in a thread in this section right out of the state ref manual. Included in that thread is information indicating that you can use any intake manifold you want, so long as it has all the ports etc for all the original vacuum/emission/egr crap.

uhhhh,..... are you serious???? we live in a state where you need carb certified intake pipes,.... you think a smim will fly??????

doesn't matter, the tranny issue still exsists,...

This is awesome, glad your alright though.

Yes, I am serious. And your post is a hasty generalization.
I was just looking for more information because as it has been explained to me - aftermarket intake manifolds are legal so long as they can support all of the stock equipment that was originally on the stock intake manifold.

Did the person you spoke with indicate that there is no way, no how?
In all honesty, I've not met someone who has "tested" the theory. One way or another.

I suppose you're right though, a moot point if the transmission situation cannot be resolved.

I still don't get how the car did a brake-induced stoppie and flipped over completely. WTF

yes the california state ref I spoke to said that a carb certified intake manifold must be used to legally complete the swap. I asked him if relocating the throttle body on the factory intake manifold would suffice, and he said any welding done to the factory parts would be considered a modification and the "new" intake manifold would need to be carb certified. Welds are hard to hide, fyi.

Worse, Eclipse-certified parts won't pass inspection on a Talon.

yeah dude, I don't think you fully understand just how nazi crazy the smog people are here in cali. There is no legal way to do it, trust me. Defiant knows the legislation better than anyone I think.
