I have been a muscle car guy all my life. I actually own two small block Nova's and a big block C-10 pickup ( yes I am Chevy bias). When gas prices started going thru the roof, I began looking into the money was spending on these rods. When my fuel bill topped $375 a month I began looking for a little hop arround car to watch gas prices. A good buddy of mine gave me a call and told me he had just bought a 95 Escort GT, and i mentioned that I would like to have something sporty and peppy to get arround in myself. After the conversation stretched out, he mentioned a 1991 Eclipse GSX that his wife owned. The car was sold to a gentleman who owned a garage due to the problems with the car. He also mentioned that the car had been sitting in the same spot that he dropped the car off in.. get this .. 4 YEARS AGO!!.
He told me that the turbo was locked up on the car and it had an unusual noise in the drivetrain. So I went and talked to the mechanic, where he emphasized that if i towed the car off that I could have it...
I looked over the car. The interior was immaculent, paint was bad but not a drop of rust or any dents.
So i shelled out the $115 towbill and brought it home with title in hand
. Then I started doing my research, and i had no idea that these cars were that fast.
Thanks to these forums, i have gotten the car running (minus the turbo due to its complete failure) with a computer swap and a new fuel pump (walbro 255hp), and now looking into a transfer case for the car.. (the ungodly noise in the drivetrain
).
After it fired, i have decided to make it a complete TOY.. and not an everyday driver.
Hopefully this will be a rags to riches project, and i will keep you all posted.
I will be posting pictures later.. Camera batteries are dead...
Please leave feedback.
