when i bought the car the temp guage worked then i drove it for a while then it stopped working then i installed a new tps since i needed one and it started working agian then recently it stopped working agian. any thoughts? and will my fans still work?

The sender for the gauge ONLY drives the gauge, nothing else. Its probably just a loose connection. The area around the thermostat housing gets VERY hot, and the wiring and connectors get very brittle. The gauge sender is a single wire sensor. Just wiggle the connector around and I'll bet that it starts working.
