temp gauge does not work

my car sat for 5 weeks while i was at college. i came home and the temp gauge does not work. it does not rise from the lowest position. as far as i could tell it wasnt stuck in limp mode so how would i go about fixing/replacing the temp gauge?

so i would have to replace the enitre cluster? do they make aftermarket temp gauges that are easier to install then replacing the gauge cluter

find a cluster from the salvage yard or look for one somewhere ebay easier than wiring one up in your car.

Go aftermarket. I dont know why one would go through the trouble to fix the stock when an aftermarket temp gauge is much easier and cheap to install. Not to mention more accurate and reliable.

ok thats what i'll do. I have 2 spots left on my a pillar to fill anyway

Are there any voltage tests or something i could do to make sure it is the gauge and no the sender that is broken?

Ok, i just got back from school again and i have an update:

I found where the sensor goes in to the water neck and about a foot down the wiring it is just cut/chewed off. I'm guessing something might of gotten in there while i was away, i'm not sure. However, i was looking for the other end of the wire that was cut so i could try and solder them back together or something, but i couldn't find it. Does anyone have a picture, or description of where the wire comes from harness side? If its too hard, i'll be ording a temp gauge tonight!
