By any chance, do you know the total distance from the surface of the plate that bolts to the chassis to the bottom of the spring hat? It's this distance that I've trying to learn for a week or so. TIA.

show me a pic of what your talking about and i will try to help you..

I'm going to try again in words and, if that fails, I'll draw a picture and scan it and post it.

When you are looking at a fully-assembled Flex front coilover, from top to bottom you have: the mounting plate that bolts to the chassis and holds the shock shaft, then the spring hat (aka upper spring perch) which is mounted to the shock shaft below the pillowball, then the spring, etc, etc. I want to know the distance from the top of the mounting plate down to the bottom of the spring hat. More precisely, I want to know the distance from the top of the plate down to the first thing that the shock body would hit (during bump) if there were not bumpstop on the shock shaft.

I know this distance for the plates that GC sells. I want to know how much travel I'm going to lose (at this end) if I switch to Tein Flex.

JTM-I'm sorry for not replying earlier, my appologies. If I'm reading your post correctly it looks like approx. 5.5 inches from the chassis mounting plate to the top of the shock absorber. Let me know if this isn't want your looking for...

Nope, but close. Thanks.

I want the distance from the top of the chassis mount to the bottom of the spring hat. Basically, I want to know how much space the entire upper mount is using up.
