1G TCU help

I guy tried to rebuild mine, that did not work. Then he gave me another one, which was also burnt out. He gave me a third that he said came of a car that was running and shifting fine when it was taken out. When I had it installed, my car still wont shift. I had a auto electrcian look at it and he said all the wires, and sensors worked that maybe the computer might need to be reprogramed, but somebody else told me cars before 1994 did not need programing.

I want my car fixed bad, is there any other thing that may keep my car from shifting or is it another faulty box? I talked to a guy at a DSM specielty shop and he said to use a shift box? Mine is a auto. I want to keep it auto. Any one can help?

I vote shift box..The road surge one you can turn off and drive like an auto again whenever you want..But if you turn the box off you still have to have a working tcu..

But if you just want to drive it auto..I suggest fine a tcu that is not fried..

Theres probably not another thing thats keeping the car from shifting..Didn't you say your step dad had this car for like the last 15 years? So I doubt all the wires and what not are messed up..So it's back to finding a working tcu..

Were would I be able to find a working TCU/TCM what ever there called (i here both of those). I already drove from my house into Chicago 4 times to get ones that dont work. Could there possibly be something in my car that is frying them instead?

I just want to get my car to work My mom is already saying its unfixable.

At least your close to chi town..I would google salvage yards around Aurora, and possibly post a wanted to buy add here on tuners..It is fixable.

But If you can't figure it out my offer is still on the table..

But if your step dad never had any problems till now than I doubt its something wrong with the wiring and such..A fuse should blow before it fries the tcu..

I was going to suggest driving up here and I would swap in my tcu, but I'm over 3 hours away so that's not a good idea..

Well the place im going is a hour away from were i live to Chicago, and i checked all the yards by my house, they only have base n/t models. the car been like this for about 3 years. So it is not a new problem, we been driving it ijn third for a long time

Man I really feel for you..I can give you the links to a free shifter and, the roadsurge shifter..But It sounds like you want to just drive the car as an auto..

Like I said Post a wanted to buy add here on tuners..I bet a bunch of people have tcu's laying around..There was a guy who had a bunch of them I don't know If i left his name on one of your other threads or not..But Ic annot think of his name, and I probably wouls have to put in an hour of going throught my posts just to find his name..

So make a wanted to buy add..That's where I would start..

Also I don't know for sure if the non turbo tcu's are the same as our awd tcu's..It an option if you can get one for like ten bux..It might work, and then again you might be out the ten bux..

well i payed 250 for the guy in chicago to get me one

also i want to ask is it maybe just a blown fuse that is keeping them from working? And if so what one should I check
