TB and Intake Manifold question

hey everyone, im changing the head gasket on my 420a, and i came across something that doesnt look right and im looking for some guidance or clues perhaps?

I took off my cai, and looked into the TB and it looked ok, a little dirty, when i took the TB off the manifold, inside it was BLACK , covered with thick oily black stuff. What could this be from, my intake manifold is the same way, im going to take pictures once my batteries charge,

If you were leaking oil into the cylinders, this may have made its way thru the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) system back into the intake, to the thottle body, and into the intake manifold. That would be my guess.
