Hello DSMers! I've had my Talon for awhile but I'm pretty clueless so please don't be to hard on me LOL. I'm one of those people you need to talk reeeeaaaallllyyy ssllloooowwww to on this issue.

I'm looking for a new ECU but I'm afraid to buy just ANY ECU from a 98 DSM in hope that it works. I own a 98 Talon ESI 2.0L (no Turbo, no mods). I was wondering if somebody could run over the codes/numbers with me and tell me what they represent so that I can find an ECU that is compatible with my Talon.

This is what's on the ECU sticker:

Chrysler P/N P05269833 AK 0526
9833AK
MODULE S/N T59EH0849F3270

I have been browsing ebay but every computer has different codes/serial codes/numbers (w/e) and I don't want to order anything until I'm sure it will work. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. :)

Basically what happened was my boss used his truck to jump my Talon after I left the lights on (oops) and I believe he hooked the cables up backwards or something because a few fuses blew (there was a wonderful huge ass spark when he hooked up his end). It wouldn't start again after replacing the fuses and boosting it, it turned over but wouldn't start, now it won't even turn over and there is no power to anything. The shop says the ECU is dead and I need a replacement.

Now I'm assuming that lights are not connected to the ECU and would work regardless and since the lights do not work this leads me to believe (if im right) that there is more of an issue somewhere in the wiring harness, I will recheck all the fuses but they all appear fine and I've replaced the burnt out ones. The power locks work but that's it LOL. :(

Alright so would I be right then in assuming that any 98 2g NT ECU from a Talon or Eclipse will work regardless of all this stuff:

Chrysler P/N P05269833 AK 0526
9833AK
MODULE S/N T59EH0849F3270?

If so, wow that would make life a hell of a lot easier! :)

Yes it will work just make sure if you have manual transmission get one from a manual or if you have an auto get one from an auto transmission don't mix that up, and you'll be fine actually you can get ECU from 97 or 99 as well and it will work.
