medicine hat,
well i'll be takin my 2g auto talon to the track and was wondering if anyone had some tips to:

A: get decent times?
B: do as little damage to my trany and other parts as possible.?
C: things not to do?

i dont wanna brake boost the whole time im there wont that do damage?
anything else i may want to know before going?

this is how i do it when i run some one else at the track....pull up from the stage lanes from the light tree first! dont worry about the other guy yet just get to the tree be fore he does! now trip on the the pre stage and stage lights.. if the other guy starts doing a burn out go ahead and bumo the car into neutral and rev the motor to about 2k and pump the brakes and hold them then let off the gas bump it back into drive(keep a eye on the other guy)as he starts to pull up and trips the pre stage lightly ease into the throttle and start building boost ...now that last step can be tricky depending on how big of a turbo you have but you should get the idea....of course if you've never been to the track before you probly have no idea what the hell i'm talking about.....

you guessed it, i've never been to the track before....my car is stock cept for free mods.....just wanna go...have fun....see where my car is sitting before i start putting money into it...so i can see the over all gains as i build it. How often do you guys brake boost while at the track? what should be done so as not to do damage? and anything else you may wanna include.

thanks any help is appreciated.

The biggest thing is to not brake boost for more than about 10-15 seconds at most! The less time the better. Don't worry about the tree. If you have to red light. You'll still get a timeslip which is all that matters in the end isn't it? Also make sure after your run you give the tranny pleanty of time to cool down. You don't want to over heat the tranny because that's what kills it. I didn't keep my A/T FWD modded very long but I was able to bam out 13.8@101 and 2.0-2.1 60fts on street tires, pump gas, and 15psi. Good luck.

Also check out at.dsm.org. They have great advice on that site.

just for your info... the top two sets of yellow light are your pre stage and stage lights your must trip both these lights with your front wheels once you do this and if there is nobody in the other lane you have about 1 to 3 seconds before the lights start to drop now there are two other sets of yellow lights on the tree below the pre& stage lights i leave when the second yellow light pops on which seems to work well for me,but i ran my 11.998 in my awd using what i desrcibed in my earlier post...go watch! learn! dont be nervous! have fun! and try to pick on as my hondas a possible! :thumb:

so on this pic the top two are like you said...pre-stage and stage.... then three yellows....i go on the green....what does the red indicate?...if i went too soon?....if so am i supposed to keep going when the red comes on...or stop?

The red indicates if you leave too soon. Don't worry about this light. It only applies if your actually competing in heads up or bracket racing. Your timer will activate the minute you leave the lights. You'll still get a time, you just might not be eligable for track bonuses. Like here we had $50 bucks to the first 4 cyl in the 11s this season. A red light would nullify that award even if you ran 11s.
