Allright guys ive been thinking about smokeing my tail lights to change up the look of my car a little, i dont think it would look to bad because i have black rims and tinted windows how ever im not 100% sure and dont want to ruin my tails and then not like the result, so if you guys could give me some opinions on what you think i would appreciate it, thanks. :D

Smoke em. Your car has that stealthy appearance. I also painted my center same color as the car.

How mine came out

I say lightly smoke them. so light you you almost dont notice. i dont like the "blacked out" look.

on the read car above i dont like the look with the lights off. it makes the lights stand out. i think it looks better with darker colored cars. i personaly wouldent do it to a red or white car... i have 2 extra pairs of eclipse tail lights i have been saving for when i pick up another eclipse

jz don't smoke em..... lightly tint them...i think it'll look pretty sic if you jz do your tail lights like that. ;)

Thanks for all the input guys, & thanks for the pics razman8 i like the look you have esp with the smoked reverse lights i didnt even think about them. but i do like the idea of just lightly smokeing them to just put a dark tint to them like a cuple of you guys said

what about these LED brake lights coverd in a light tint, but the stock center peice, (also tinted) to ricey ?

seriously?

I personally think lightly tinting them makes them just look dirty. If you do it I say paint the center section to match the car and then tint the tails dark. Just don't go so dark that light can't easily pass through. Look into Nightshade if you decide to do it.

My buddy and I used nightshade on his gray eclipse and it turned out pretty pleasing... sorry i dont have pics at the moment but i would say if you want it, hell why not?

wow. haha don't get these. they shouldn't have even been suggested. ::nono:

I fully agree with lightly smoking. In fact mine super black. I was going for the light smoke also. And in person they dont look as dark. The camera focuses in an makes em dark. But thing is too, if you do it with VHT nightshades. You cant get it super light with an even layer becausse you will see the indiviual specs of spray.
If you do decide to do it... Even if they come out glossy, i highly reccomend a duplicolor clear coat. if not they get nasty looking. seen it before.. doesnt look good

So no led tails, i got it LOL, and i herd that there was something else that can be used other then the nightshade, something for chrome or along those lines, anyone else hear that ? saposed to go on more evenly and not chip as easy.

Chip? Ive done 2 sets, my old talon and my gsx. Chipping would only occur due to an improper prepping of the surface.
Some will say you need to sand it to rough it up
But what I did is grab a paper towel and some rubbing alcohol and it works oh so well.. cleans surface perfectly. Allows the vht to stick nicely. Inspect the lens to make sure its free of lint or dust particles for the best look

How about..no. I would tint them and not completly black them out. Paining the center to match the body color always turns out well too. Tint them, instal, see what they look like. If you think they could be a little darker, take them back out, tint a little more.

Ill prob get flamed for this but owell....I'd prob get thos but i'd definatly paint the center to match my car and still lightly smoke them.
These are mine. Altezza's I kno :ohdamn: but I took it apart and carbon fiber ovalay it... looks pretty decent in my opinion...ima jz tint them lighty....its sumthing different....if i had the option of getting stock I would but for now these will do.

i had mine professinally done by a guy here that did all 3 pieces for $110. Kinda pricey but for what i got as a result well worth the money. They match the color of my black eclipse during the day but at night you can clearly see all the lights wouldnt go back but i might look into getting my reverse lights painted too

I personally love tinted tails, I think it makes the car seem very stealthy and mean. But the only thing I highly recommend is a good prepping. I didnt do a very good job at prepping on my first talon, and I had to completely redo them. Its not a fun task taking VHT off believe me. :banghead:

OP, there is a pic in my gallery of my car with lightly tinted tails. My car is a grey 2g talon with black wheels. It would at least give you an idea of what it looked like. I would post it on here but the iPhone doesn't have an app for that LOL. Good luck with your decision

I have a grey talon and a black talon, I have my black tails tinted, and tried them for a while on my grey talon. I loved them on my black one but the grey just didnt look great to me.

But if you like it then do it.
