tach signal wire 5" autometer

Ive searched , and didnt find the answer i wanted

so where can i hook the signal wire off of the tach? i really dont want to hook anything to the ecu because i have enough cut\spliced\soldered\electrical taped wires down there, i was trying to see if i could hook it to the wire on the coil pack? which wire what color? i tried the black wire on the cas and it didnt work, i know the tach works i had it on my 1.8

There is a WHITE wire behind the instrument cluster that will test AC voltage. That is your tach signal.

Make sure you test with a multimeter. Also found at a connector above the hood release.

But please test. There could be multiple white wires.

Let me know if you need other colors for the car.

EDIT: That is correct for 1G.

for reference purposes, on a 90, its the white wire on the coil pack connector, i think there are 4 wires, 3 black with different color stripes i believe, and one white wire, the white wire is the tach signal wire thank you 95gsx
