hey guys,
if i am correct the 1g has a 14b stock turbo, and the 2g a T25. Whats the difference between the two? does one have a higher max boost than the other? i was reading a FAQ on this website: http://www.vfaq.net/DSM/mods/10faq.html and its saying the 14b maxes at 21 psi...but ?? for the T25...whats the max for a T25 then? and what other differences are there?

I don't think its the PSI exactly that matters. Compare a T25 and a Evo III 16g both running at 14 PSI, and the EVO III will be out performing the T25, even with the same horsepower. I'm not an expert on turbos, but I do know that the 14b is a WAY better turbo than the t25

Look at it like this

T-25 flows 250 cfm

14B flows 450 cfm

The 14B will Pull till red line at 7000 the T-25 will die off at 5500.

14B can hold upwards of 20 PSI and the T-25 will spike high but always settle at 16 PSI highest with a MBC.

The 14B is a better more efficent turbo.

well right, but the reason im asking is becuase someone claims that a 1g stock turbo can run at 22 psi without upgrade injectors...with just stock everything without damaging anything, but when a 2g stock turbo is running at 21 without upgraded injectors and such, but it will burn wholes in the pistons. thats why i need to know wut the max psi is in both is anyone knows :D

Stock fuel system will allow for 16 PSI safely. Both cars.

but do they both max at the same PSI?

No, maximum efficiency on a T-25 is around 15-16 PSI. You can run higher, but you will not make any more power and you'll probably be looking for a new turbo and/or engine really soon. :nono:

explain how the same hp will outperform the same hp? the t25 flows less air than an evoIII 16g, at the same psi, your getting more of that pressurized air from the evoiii. its like the idea behind getting a bigger intake pipe. the bigger intake pipe allows more air through it. an evoiii can flow more of the same pressure air than a t25. also, the t25 "maxes" out at about 17 psi if i remember correctly. basically, the t25 is the worst of the worst.

I think he meant at the same PSI.

tell that someone they are retarded. the stock fuel system on a 1g allows for aproximently 18psi. it doesnt matter what psi your running at either way. this isnt ricers.com, do yourself a favor and read up everything on turbos that this site has and then come back:
stealth316.com

also read as much of this site as possible:
dsmtuners.com

and dont ask ricer questions. it annoys me when my friends always ask me how loud my bov is going to be once my car is finished, but this is like 20 times worse

Sry ment outperform even at the same PSI

IMO i dont think my question is a ricer one, since im asking becuase a car im lookin in on buying claims hes running 21 psi on the stock internals and turbo on a 2g eclipse...and i know thats too much to not do damage to internals...but i wanted to know if the 1g was the same...so more like a newbie question if anything...which would server right this being a newbie forum and all..I'd just rather not buy a car that will die 500 miles down the road...so i decided me being a newb and all...so i thought i'd ask you ppl becuase thats how ya learn.

heres what you do then...Smile at him and Nod paying no attention to anything he says. Then perform a compression test if it comes back strong and you still like the car, pick it up. The small stuff like turbo and such you can take care of the logical way. GoodLuck.
