T belt help

I hate to sound dumb but. I did my belt and everyting looks o.k but when I spin the crank at times the belt feel loose when the marks are not lined up. It runs and looks good but I don't know if it is right.(I just don't know if the tention changes when the moves.)

First thing. If the marks are not lining up, don't crank or run the engine untill that is corrected. Get a service manual, or go to vfaq.com for proper installation procedures. Whatever you do, do it now!!!

I've made several posts in here on proper timing belt adjustment procedures. It's not all that hard if you take the time to do it right. That's a whole lot better than having to pull the head later because of a slipped timing belt.

It's normal for the belt to loosen up a tiny bit on certain points when the cams are turned.

Perhaps, but if you read deeper he says the marks aren't lining up.

Without seeing it I have to assume it's jumped a tooth. He needs to confirm or disprove that theory. That's all I ask. Know the truth.

It's actually best to install the belt, hand turn it 6 times, wait 30 minutes, do it again. At least if you need to re-adjust the tensioner, you don't have to remove the cover. This is in an ideal world in which we don't live in but can be done at home as you are not under pressure from the other 10 cars sitting in your lot.
