Swapping AWD output shaft with a different spline shaft?

hi guy's, I have a question and I need to know the answer quick, because I have to pick up a transmission today but I need to know if this will work.

Please excuse my n00bness for the AWD drivetrain, as I've had a FWD turbo DSM for the last 3 years but I just got a AWD car.

But I have a 90 DSM, and the last owner swapped out the 22 spline transmission for a 23 spline, and blew that up. I need a tranny quick so I'm going to pick up a 90 tranny. So the transfer case I have will not fit it.

What if I remove the Viscious coupler, take the ball bearing holding that shaft in place out and remove it from the transmission and swap it in the other one, could I essentially make a 90 22 spline transmission use a 92+ 23 spline Transfer case? I have removed this shaft before on a friends tranny and it's very straight forward so I can do the swap in a hour..

but I need to know if the shafts are the same and if they will work, so someone let me know! The clock is ticking!!

I went ahead and bought a Tranny and the guy gave me a 22 spline T-Case with it, but it's good to know now if I ever want to swap to a 23 spline, since I have two extra t-cases laying around.

, tranny was already in 2 hours after I got it home, car already drives but I'm just trying to figure out this mess the last owner did.. he tried to swap 91+ shifter assemblie/cables/bracket but things are messed up so I'm trying to figure out what exactly needs to stay and what exactly needs to be replaced with the correct stuff. it's half assed working with a bracket from my 90 FWD dsm, but I really need the correct one.
