Hi all,

Im looking for a recommendation on a good suspension setup - either coilovers or lowering springs over good shocks. Only track use - not a daily driver so i'd like to get it as stiff and low as possible. I like the idea of coilovers because ultimately i would like to run some rallyX as well.
Any feedback on the K-Sport Kontrol Pro Damper Coilovers?
Why are they priced so low compared to other in the catalog?

Also, rear sway bar. Im assuming there are different dia's available but can't seem to find detalis in the 'tuner's parts catalog. Are there better sites to get performance parts?

Thanks

I have eibach sportline springs on my tsi fwd. It lowered me about 2". I didnt change out my struts yet but it slammed me pretty low.

I d go with Konis...safe choice
Or Teins, but they re a bit more expensive
and i guess Ebay s your best choice...

I am currently running the D2 coilovers, and a st rear sway bar. The sway bar is the cheapest at summitracing. And the D2's i would get from Marti, who was at the speed factor. He does have another shop opened up and can get the d2's. I love the whole setup very happy with it so far, but bare in mind i do only have 100 miles on it or so.

....i just checked out the summit racing web site... im assuming that 3/4" rear sway bar is stock. Is 1" as fat as they make them?.

Thanks

As far as i know, but i have been wrong. The bar is a bright green in color also, looks good. Tight as a banjo string!!!:thumb:

Im thinking im getting the sway bars first then.... altho the temptation is flowing out of my ears to get the D2's. Anybody knows a good line to throw at my wife as to why i would spend $ 1500 on a 14yo car ??:D

Well the d2's are only about 1000 give or take a 100 and the sway bar was only about 130 or something wasnt it? Tell her u really really really need it. ANd that none of ## freinds have it so u will be the coolest kid around:thumb: :thumb:

Eibach pro kit, Koni 5 way adjustable shocks & struts, and a Rear sway bar.
This simple set up has worked good for me. I'd recommend it to anyone.

If you really want a good handling car you'll weld-in a roll bar setup with braces to stiffen up the car. Its almost a must for RallyX anyway. And If you know you are going to be doing different kinds of racing then you'll definitely need the adjustable shocks/struts.

wouldnt such setup run me very close to the D2 coilovers in dolars?. Having said that - would you still recommend goining with eibach/koni because of the brand reputation?

...i've been doing some price research this morning and really got nowhere.
I was told i could pick up a sway bar for about a 100 - would that be true and would that be with bushings?
Can anybody with more experience recommend a store - im looking for the sway bar, a short shifter (again with bushings), coilover set.

thanks

If you're looking for track use only, skip lowering springs entirely. Many people use Koni's and Ground Controls.

right now yes - im only doing autox, but the first opportunity i get im going to an rallycross event - so im just about convinced i need to spend money on those D2's
Just like jtmcinder suggested - its better to spend money once - the first time - im already one shot behind LOL...

Well like i said, maybe u can find a better deal but summit for 125 has everything u need except for the SWAY BAR END LINKS, it has the bushings and new hardware to mount to the subframe, but the endlinks, u will need new ones. It is possible to get the old ones apart without ruining them and possibly re-using them. I personally wouldnt go that route. Also I have seen TEIN coilovers on ebay from various sources for the 12 to 13 range. Alittle more then the d2's but probably better if not the same. I do want to add that D2's customer service was awesome also. I had ordered the ones for an awd and i received the ones for a fwd, i called them that day, i shipped my rears back and recieved the right one a day later. Very happy with that.
