hey guys i am now neering the point in my biuld were i need to upgrade my turbo from the super 16g. however, ive run into a bit of an on going debate, wether to go with the 20g or the 25g. i spoke to hahn racecraft themselves and they told me that the reason they discontinued the 25g turbo was because its inoficiant. however i have still seen a couple members on here running the 25g. hahn recomended to me the super 20g, but i wanted to here what some people on here had to say about the 25g in contrast to hahns recomendations.:dsm:

I have never heard of the 25g

The most important question though is what are your powergoals

wow i was sure i put my goals in the original post somewere but i must have forgotten. anyway im looking to hit around 400 to 425 whp. o and by the way this isnt another (what turbo should i go with) thread. im simply wondering if people are agreeing with what hahn is telling me as far as the 25g, and im wondering why a few people still choose to go the 25g rought when the 20g option is so proven.

If the reason is good enough for them to discontinue the turbo, consider that sufficient reasoning.

The 25G is a bit larger then the Super 20G, I'm pretty sure it's peak hold falls off a bit before it should, and spool isn;t as fast as the latest up-to-date turbos; GT35R, 60-1, etc..

If Hahn discontinued it, it was probably for a good enough reason.

i believe the reason they discontinued it was because its maximum hp output is almost 700hp, and i guess because know 1 has made it to that mark yet i supose thats why they say its inoficiant.

Hahn wasn't the sole maker of the 25g they just sold a version of it. You can still get the turbo. But like everyone said it's not as good as the other mitsu turbos and couldn't keep up with the jones.

Ineficient. Route.

Bringing a little more effort to the table for a technical discussion isn't too much to ask.

Don't bother with a 25g. Don't even bother with a 20g. You'll have lag issues and the power is peaky way up in the tach. It's pointless to have a turbo that forces you into a 10,000rpm redline in order to really make use of it. Consider alternatives of the ball bearing variety. You may have to source a new manifold, but if you're aiming for 400whp, your days of Ebay shopping should be over.

This isn't some beat ass 1G with DSMlink. This is a highly modified 2GNT aiming for the upper limits of streetable power in a FWD car. I'd be willing to bet the last 2GNT that HRC built and tuned themselves didn't even make 400whp...

I'd say you're best off with a GT3076r or GT3082r (fp 3052 and 3065 respectively)
