2G Suggestions for cleaning fuel tank

So I just got done dropping my tank so that I can thoroughly clean the inside of it. I've read that acetone and a bunch of nuts will do a good job, but I'm concerned that the acetone might damage the plastic. Anyone ever done this or have any suggestions?

I don't know how bad your tank is but I personally wouldn't have dropped it to clean it...I'm not sure exactly how you would clean a tank but I would have ran a little seafoam through the fuel and oil and changed the fuel filter a few times...I'm sorry if this isn't helpful

Try some hot water with the nuts and bolts. A pressure washer could help too. Gumout sells a gas tank cleaner. Maybe mixing it with the hot water and shaking it around would help.

Might be cheaper to just pour some E85 in there. I know that cleans my tank out well.

Have you opened the top, and verified it needs to be cleaned? I had a couple inches of gas in the tank while it sat 5 years. Emptied it out, and the tank looked new on the inside. I would stay away from acetone. It eats up most plastics.
