ok well i recently spun a rod in my 2g 7bolt motor im not trying to do 6bolt cause id have to change my clutch and go over my budget #1. Now that im done i have a vtrim turbo so i want to build my spun motor to 20 psi but i also want to do a stroker kit also.... i have a budget of 2000 for parts thats it so i mean should i not stroke my motor and just do pistons rods and bearings btw the 2k isnt for the head its just for the block.

if i should just do rods and bearings please give me a good company and or website cause im having problems finding good rods and bearings and pistons. I understand i havent listed alot of stuff here ask me some questions and ill answer i just want to know hat can handle 20 psi on a good tune on a vtrim?

First off, Why would you need to change your clutch if you go with a 6-bolt? Flywheel yes, but i think the clutch disks and pressure plates are the same between a 6-bolt and 7-bolt awd car.

If you decide to go the 6-bolt rout I would stay with the stock rods w/ARP bolts and a set of Weisco pistons. If the money is available you could add in a set of Eagle or Scat rods for less than $400.

In my opinion the 2G piston on 1G rods is not a big money saver, since a set of 2G pistons will cost you around $200, and you could spend $100 or more to get the 1G rods machined to accept the 2G pistons, and you can buy a set of Weisco's for around $425 to $450. Don't get me wrong here it will save you some money, but not alot with all thing considered.

If you go the 7-bolt rout, I would plan on Weisco's and Eagle's or Scat's from the get go.

thank you i mean im only using a 16g but im thinking about stepping up to either a gt35r (friends got one for 700 bucks) or a vtrim so i want something that i can boost like 10 - 15 psi on a big turbo and not really be scared and thank you for the great responce anybody else?

one of my friends told me a stock 7bolt motor with arp headstuds and headgasket could run 20 psi on a vtrim safely with a good tune is this true?

You should be thinking more like 25 and up psi on a gt35. If you only want to run 10-15 psi I'd stick with the 16g and do a stock rebuild.

I have ran 20-22 psi with spiking every now and then to 24 on my stock 7bolt longblock. Do some searching.

20-22 psi on a t25 is like blowign thru a straw im talking about a 50 trim big boy turbo.... theres a difference, the vtrim at 15psi made 335 on one of my friends one gens its a nasty turbo and hes running no cams just exhaust and turbo

I run 24psi on my stock motor w/ EvoIII 16G. Just have a cometic HG and ARP studs.:thumb: Get a good tune and your golden. Depending on how good a tune you getif your looking for over 335 horsepower I would build the block for insurance reasons just so you know it'll handle it.:dsm:

Where did you get he was running a T-25 from. If you look in his profile hes running a PTE turbo. Thats def. a difference from a T-25:nono:

he hasent updated his 1/4 time LOL thats all i looked at

60' Time: 2.299
Link to physical Timeslip
Turbo Used: T25
Type of Fuel: Pump gas

but i just spun a rod and i am kinda hurting for cash so im trying to fiqure out what i should od my mechanic told me do eagle rods 2g pistons stock crank new bearings all arp bolts and head gasket. He said that will be a solid motor for about 450 - 500 a tthe crank

On a stock 2.0L, I find it really hard to believe that your friend made 335 whp @ only 15 psi on a vtrim with stock cams. The vtrim is by no means a "large" turbo, its abit of a step up from the evoIII as far as flow but even a larger turbo such as a 50 trim , etc isn't going to make that kind of power on that low of boost, with a stock setup. Unless your friend is running a larger displacement, has cams, has SMIM, has head work etc., those numbers just don't add up.

As for boost 20psi defently isn't on the high side & a stock setup will more then hold this. If your running 20+ psi, then yes a set of head studs is a good idea. There are many that run 22-24 psi daily on a completely stock setup & know a few that are close to the 30 psi mark on stock bottom ends & yes these are on much larger then 16g series turbo's. I myself run 22-24psi daily on a FP3052, stock bottom end.

If you want abit of extra room, for bigger plans down the road a set of Eagle or Scat rods & some Ross or Weisco pistons are a good route to go. Its a resonable priced setup that will also hold a good amount of power if your turbo selection changes.

Sounds pretty good to me, but...

I think you'll want to look at some forged pistons, the stock cast ones are a little more likely to get too hot at that power level. Not saying they won't hold together at that point, just that they could be a source of detonation from hot spots. But that will also depend on the efficiency of the turbo & intercooler, among many other things.

-If you're going with 50 trim-ish or less airflow it shouldn't be a real big problem to tune. You probably won't hit very much more than 475hp at the crank with the turbo completely maxed out. Eagle rods have a reputation of only being good to around 550-600whp, so if you plan to eventually go all-out with a bigger turbo, you may choose to consider other rods.

sick 2 really good posts i have a second 2g motor laying around (didnt walk or anything) one of my friends crashed his car and i was like 400 bucks ill take it and he said deal so i have a extra 2g motor with like 65k on it LOL but i wanted to put the good one in and boost 20psi or so till it gave out (i was expecting 6 months to a year) and build the extra spun bearing motor.

Now the thing is it will probably take me a good 6 months to save up the money to get all the pistons rods bearings all bolts and the money for the machine shop to go .20 or .40 over so im just trying to kill time pretty much as of right now my cars off the road ie for winter/broken LOL

but i just want to boost 20 psi on 93 octane on the vtrim (i have the maft gen II) which auto tunes with a wideband for wot im gonna have a dyno in my area tune for the low to mid throttle. and u say that my motor with a good tune should handle 20 psi if its healthy.

u said u boost 24 psi on a head gasket and arp studs LOL insane is that c16 or pump gas and also what mods are they running for 30 psi... ALSO since im building my motor what injectors do u use for 20+ psi of boost 7's?

No, stock head gasket here, just ARP's torqued to 90 ft/lbs (with their moly lube). That is my daily driven tune with pump 94 & some water/meth injection. As for the guys running the 25-30 psi range, basically same as me, head studs & some have the stock head gasket while others have MLS. As for injector size, you said you are running just a MAFT setup? (ie no DSMLink?). I'm not too fermiliar with the maft but I believe you will be limited with injector size choice, like other piggyback systems as with to much injector compensation, you will end up with too much timing advance, resulting in a poor tune & not allowing you to run the boot you want. If the MAFT works in this way you are limited to 650-680 injectors, which you can probably max out. If your not running DSMLink, an eprom ecu chip is probably the way to go for injector compensation & then use the MAFT for the fine tuning. If you run DSMlink or run an eprom, I'd go 750 as a min size but would recommend going 850+. If I was buying injectors again I would go with 950 or 1000cc for growing room in the future.

the maft gen II has no limitations from what i was told by the site where i bought it, it can handle any size injector since it is also used on turbo'd buicks also, It is limited though on the amount of correction on any sized injector it can only go +-60% on the injector.... so if i have 1000 injectors id probably run rich everyday as my DD but with 850s i could probably get a great tune out of it.

ok well im just gonna put the stock 2g block back in with a headgasket and arp studs and just run like 10w40 oil everytime and boost 20psi if it goes it goes its only like 900 id be spending total no big deal
