I was driving under boost about 4k rpm. and all of a sudden it just wasnt making much power and my motor started smoking and was making a loud ticking noise that came and went. I shifted into neutral and it stalled right away. Now it wont idle but it will drive fine. I looked under the hood and the oil filler cap wasnt there. and I don't know where it went. What could have happened?

sounds like you either lost compresion in one of the cylinders or have bent valves, mine does almost the same thing and i had both bent valves and no compresion in the first cylinder. have you checked your compresion? is the ticking sound like a clinking in the block?

no boost leaks. I have to do a compression test and I will get back to you about it. I think the clicking noise is because the oil cap was off.

yeah when i opened the hood and saw there was no cap, I was in complete shock.

It drives but won't idle? And if the oil cap was off, oil possibly got onto the exhaust etc and started burning. Hopefully you didn't starve the engine. And if the oil pump came off you may have broken the metal pieces that hold it down and could have fallen in the head. One of mine separated one time but i caught it before it did any harm.

yeah i have to fix my other car first to pull it in the garage. Blown head gasket on a baretta... Not having a good month.

did you recently change or have someone change the oil? If so maybe that's the culprit of your lost oil cap. If your car was smoking from the bay it's something leaking onto something otherwise it'd be coming out of your exhaust (please correct me if I'm wrong) the loud ticking probably came from the loss of oil and the fact that the oil cap was not on. There is a notable audible sound when the cap is off under idle versus it being on.

Your idle problem can be fixed by loosening the screw on your throttlw body. And get a new oil cap LOL loosing parts is common in the industry haha

If he was not having an idle problem before, adjusting the BISS would be stupid.

The "won't idle" and "won't make power" issues are directly related. Obviously something happened to cause them.
