My car has been acting weird lately. The car is stuttering anytime I go into boost. It was doing it before when I had older spark plugs (6's) and so I upgraded to BPR7ES (gapped at .028) over the weekend and it was like the car was a whole different car. The CEL went away and it would hold boost fine with no stuttering until redline or whenever I let off, it even idled better and I was so happy. Now it started the same crap again last night. It doesn't matter what psi, as soon as I get into boost it stutters. I'm only running 13-14 psi on the stock BCS solenoid, T-2 small, hard LICP "S" Pipe, stock 2G BOV and UICP, 3 inch Apexi turboback, MSD Wires and Ebay intake. What could be causing this? Did I foul my plugs already? Also I checked all the hose connections and did a boost leak test and everything was fine. I also smell fumes from the car like I'm running lean or something.

When you did you boost leak test, did you use soapy water? Did you check around that BOV, the stock 2G BOV are garbage.

Do you have a logger?

Maybe he edited it. Because I didn't read that before I posted. Did you do a boost leak test when the engine was warm or cold. What kind of fumess? If you smell gas it would be from running rich not lean.

The fumes are a mixture of gas/exhaust. Yes, I sprayed soapy water over all the connections and I did it when the motor was somewhat warm (the car had been sitting for 2 hrs). No I dont have a logger, I really need to get one btw.

x2 It sounds as if you're fouling plugs worse than a 2-stroke Honda dirtbike.

How long have you had those spark plugs wires on there for? It almost sounds like your arching out a wire. Hence running on 3 cylinder and you wont build much if any boost with out it studdering/jerking.

Why would that be?

You said the new plugs cured the problem. But eventually the problem came back. From your explanation, it leads me to believe a boost leak and/or ignition trouble is to blame. Both of these will cause a rich mixture and fouled plugs. Do the new plugs look wet and black now?

Running rich could foul your plugs pretty quickly. Do another boost leak test when the engine is cold. On my car once I couldn't find a boost leak that was causing driving problems. That is because I was checking it with the engine warm so the metal on my j-pipe expanded and closed the hole. When it cooled down the metal contracted and I found the leak since the hole was open again.

The wires were new when installed back in June of last year. I've only put about 450 miles on the car since then.

I'm gonna have to say it's your plugs. My 99 spyder acted up awhile back and it turned out it was the plugs. It had the exact same symptoms you got.

+1 to plugs, if you changed the plugs over the weekend and the problem went away then you have to be fouling out the plugs, that sounds like the logical explanation. No logger? You're probably running really rich and fouling out the plugs. Does the car smell like gas and/or above your exhaust is the bumper black? Start with the plugs, that's what it sounds like

Ok, I finally got some pics.

These are pics of the 6's that I took out.

And today I installed my Punishment hard upper and lower S pipes along with my BOV and I put in a new set of BPR7ES again. These are the pics of the 7's that I took out today:

.

Sad to say but it's still stuttering under boost, and I noticed that it does it sometimes when I'm moving off from a stop and the idle is a little rough too. It sometimes feel like I'm running on 3 cylinders. I dont kow, I'm stumped man. Any suggestions?

Those 6's look like the platinum tipped plugs. Those should never be used in our cars. Stick with copper plugs like your 7's are but go back with 6's heat range. I wouldn't run 7's till you are running a lot higher boost.

BTW can you take a picture of the side of the 6's so I can see the part number, It's probably BPR6EGP. The ones you want are BPR6ES.
