I keep hearing people talk about stutter boxes which enable a racer to set their rpm revs at a specific point, but where can you buy one???? Also, how does it work?? Do you just release the clutch and go, or what??

The best way to do it is with DSMLink, but if your on a budget you can find a TMO chip anywhere these days. The chip has other features as well so you can kill a few birds with one stone. Go here to read more: http://www.tmo.com/prod/eprom/eprom.shtml

I'm running a Keydiver chip. Just like the TMO chip you can controll many functions with it.

Aftermarket ignition manufacturers have ignition boxes that offer a stutter feature (msd comes to mind). This is the way it was done before chips were available:

You are right, you can set the RPM you want the car to launch at. When you stage you hold the accelerator to the floor. After launching the engine will rev normally. Usually these boxes have adjustable rev limiters too.

Like was said above, chips are the way to go now.
