yea this might be the stupidest question ever. but this is my first eclipse and ive never done any work on a car before that calls for jacking up the car and using jackstands. im about to put a exhaust on my GSX and just wanting to know where i should place the jackstands towards the front of my car. I just want to check for sure so when i get under there i dont get killed by my car

To jack the whole front of the car up, place the jack on the center of the cross member running under the engine. There should be a relatively flat spot somewhere in the middle of it which will have a small circular hole in it. That is where you want to place the jack, preferrably with a piece of wood, but if it's already a little rusty then don't worry about it.

please don't do what this person just said, and lift the rear as well. I have a RS and i'm pretty sure on all eclipses the same spot is used..You can place the jack under the center part of the frame he is talking about, and jack it up, but i always place my stands right behind the wheels where the body of the car lips down toward the ground, toward the front of the car there is like a little indention on part where it is reinforced for jack stands.

IF I AM WRONG ANYONE PLEASE CORRECT ME

listen to dsmcrazy3, he is correct lift the whole car up. for the jack stands im not really good at explainign where to put it but i believe dsmcrazy3 is correct.

someone should post a picture up for him.

Okay.

Since this question is now appearing twice a month, let's see if these pics get posted as many times as the Pagoda pic.

Lookit, kids. You buy a car, you buy the owner's manual, the shop manual, the Haynes manuals and the Chiltons. You can get the batch off eBay for less than $50 total, and it's more than obvious you need them. With DSMs, you have the bonus of not having to worry much which year you get so long as it's the right generation. And you don't need to be concerned if you get Eclipse, Laser or Talon manuals.
