In the Rain none the less.

Somehow while driving on the freeway the shaft that connects to the cv boot got dislodged from its place. It's on the drivers side. The boot is in tact and connected to its place by the tire but the part that goes toward the center of the vehicle is disconnected. I

I can see where it's supposed to go but I can't get it to contract enough to fit it back into place. It looks like it just slides back where it is supposed to...

Is the car at least driveable like this to get home to my tools or is there a trick to get it back into place with the car on the ground still?

Just get me home and then we will figure out what happened later...

Ok guys, I haven't been able to get to the shop yet. My schedule during this time of the year has been crazy. My only days off are Christmas and New Years Day and of course my friends shop is closed those days.

I am going to take the wheel off and try to turn the hub and get the axle back into the carrier bearing with some high strength threadlocker. That way I can drive it to his shop and have him look at it to make sure nothing else is wrong.

What should I look for myself while I am in there? Mind you I haven't worked on that part of the car yet myself.

As a side thought make sure to check the bolts on the strut tower.

With the clearance, I would have to agree that it is totally freaky to have that slip off while going in a strait line.

Maybe it came off on the turn you took before you were going straight? LOL

Believe me I FELT it when it came off going 85mph on the freeway. I thought I had a blowout until I realized I still had steering control.

Another question with my post above. Can I drive it without the C Clip that has apparently gone missing after I put the axle back in?
