I was reading one the articles in here about shocks and struts, and while reading this article it stated that KYB AGX's are the best to go with. I was just wondering why that is, and would you recommend the Tokico Illuminas over them. I'm in the market for sturts and was thinking about getting one or the other. They are both in my price range. Opions please.

Thanks
Scorpion

KYB AGX's and Tokico Illuminas are both great shocks. They are both adjustable, but the KYB's are about $50-100 cheaper (depending on where you go) then the Tokico's. A buddy of mine had KYB shocks on his car, they are a solid shock theres no doubt about that. In my opinion, after alot of reading, I think the Tokico Illuminas are superior to the KYB's.
Theres more to the story though, you also have to decide what type of springs you will be using, and what shock will compliment it the best. I would reccomend the Tokico Illuminas and Tein H-tech springs. Good Luck man.

I have a set of the 90-94 AWD KYB agx gas shocks, 8 way adjustable/4 way adjustable, And eibach coil overs. BRAND NEW. I tried selling the set of 4 shocks for $350 still in the box and the springs for $275 but for some reason no one could come up with the money when it came time to pay. Don't know what kind of car you have though, As it's not listed.

Sorry I did forget to list the year and model didn't I. I also have the a 94 Eagle Talon TSI AWD.

I just bought a Tokico Advanced Handling kit which includes the Tokico Illuminas and a set of matching springs and I love them my car handles great. But from what I understand the KYB's are a little better for 1st gens and the Tokicos are better for 2nd gens

All else being equal, you should also keep in mind that Tokico's come with lifetime warrantly.

Just make sure if you do ever have a problem that you dont tell them you used it on a track ;)

Of course. Why even offer this info? Btw, also be sure to let them know ;) that you did not exceed a 1" drop.

Yes I agree with that.....and I was just saying in case they ever ask because I just read the warrenty info the other night. I do think it is odd though that they dont cover a performance shock if you use it for performance.....oh well
