Europe
Hello. A few months ago the car started sputtering on the highway and would take a long time to startup. The timing had gone off due to a loose belt, but got that fixed.
Something happened after that and now it won't run well when cold. It runs much better after warming up. Video attached as a demonstration. This was filmed before the ecu grounding died. I haven't gotten any CEL and reading the codes hasn't given anything.
I have tried to do bunch of stuff already:
- Calibrating the TPS and the IPS. It seems to idle fine at 900-1000 rpm.
- Replacing the Coolant temperature sensor, spark plugs and the fuel filter
- Doing a smoke leak test
And a bunch of other stuff I don't remember
A few weeks after the issue, the ECU wouldn't boot anymore. I got the caps replaced at an electronics repair shop. I manually grounded pin 63 to the car ground which made it boot again. I'm now suspecting it's the ECU that's causing the problem. Is it possible that the readings are incorrect due to this? Here's a few pictures of it before replacing the caps:
After replacing the caps and getting it cleaned. They also replaced the transistor on the left edge of the IC110 that was suspected to be faulty. I still have to properly fix whatever is causing the grounding issue, but I'm not sure how to do it.
I have tried to find a replacement MD196144 ECU in Europe, but with no success. I'm wondering if I should send it to ECMTuning instead, but I'm not sure about that. Anyone has an idea on how I should advance or if the issue is even related to the ECU?
Thanks.
