So I went for my first drive in a couple months after getting the car back together. T-belt job new valves and gaskets the whole deal. There is a weird noise which sounds like its coming from near the battery or fuel rail inlet area. You can duplicate the sound by rubbing hard plastic or a sharp edge of your phone on a roughish piece of plastic. Something like the edge of a tic tac container on those small ivory colored trashcans like this:

The sound I am hearing sounds like the lower muffled tone you get from doing that. It only happens on deceleration between 2.5k-4k RPM. What could it be?

Shot in the dark but CAS plate? Sometimes they get loose and make a scratching and its roughly in that area.

Its definitely a rubbing sound and its very consistent with the RPM I mentioned. I only say 4k because that is the highest RPM it's been up to yet so it might do it higher but it always stops at 2.5k. Its not a rattle but I do have hard mounts. I'll go check the CAS plate but it didnt do this before I did the work. Even on the lightest acceleration or cruise it doesnt do it, only decel.
