Hey Guys,
I am giving street tuning a shot on my 2G Talon and I have a question for the group.
Attached is a recent log I took while just driving up and down some neighborhood streets - no WOT, very little boost at all. Just trying to make sure the cruise settings are good to go before progressing any further.
Background on the car:
- Purchased in late 2022 with a FP Black running a GM 3.5" MAF
- Replaced with Small 16G in April 2024 after the entire car was rebuilt. Took to a dyno tuner for initial baselining.
--> Was unable to complete the tuning because of boost creep
- Since April to now, I have replaced the turbo with a 14B, ported O2 housing and ported turbine housing
Additional details:
- FIC 1050cc injectors
- VRSF 3.5" intercooler with 2.5" piping
- 6bolt block/head with +1mm valves and ported/polished intake/exhaust
- Fully converted to Speed Density
- Innovate MTX-L wideband controller
The question:
During cruise and idle, I see oscillation in the AFRatioEst.
At idle it goes from ~13.8-15.0 at the worst, but most of the time is around 14.2-14.7.
At cruise it does about the same thing - steady part throttle and when just slowly rolling into it.
Is this normal behavior? Should I investigate anything in regards to the tune, global fuel settings, VE tables, etc?
The VE table is very rough, I know this much. It was only partly tuned at the dyno and I have further messed with things on my own.
But I do believe the cruise/idle behavior should be set now, so I want to make sure this is OK before I proceed with further tuning.
