Ok, this is wierd, and everyone I have talked to so far is clueless. So, when I go to start the car in the morning, all is well. The clutch feels normal, play feels right, engagment, everything; however, if I let it idle for a while, or just drive it, after about 20 minutes the clutch pedal gets really stiff. Not only that, it doesn't go to the floor anymore. It "bottoms out" with about an inch or more before the floor. No one can figure this out.

I removed the restricer plate in the slave, and fully bleed the system, and it felt great for about a day, then it was right back to the same old crap. Oh, and sometimes, when it gets really stiff on a hot day, the point of where the clutch grabs will literally move to far up to the top of the pedal, that when I boost the clutch slips all over place. But that's only happend twice. I'm so lost. Any advice would be awesome! :dsm: :talon: :laser:

Pull the clutch pedal up (towards you or the steering wheel), if it does then the pedal assembly is worn.

Someone mentioned that, too. The clutch is pretty old. Would that really cause all those symptoms?

You adjust the pedal to set the engage and disengage points. If your pedal is getting stiff, I would say you have a bad pressure plate or a disk that came apart. I have seen where the springs pop out and not let the pressure plate fingers go in. Thats an option:thumb:

Also did you bypass the accumulator on the front of the trans to the slave. I have had them cause many failures.

Except for the bottoming problem, this sounds like classic 2G pedal pump up. RRE's website has an excellent write up on this.

The bottoming problem I've suffered with forever and it turned out to be the slave cylinder. If you leave it like that, you'll blow the master cylinder too, from trying to force the pedal down.

yea it sounds like 2g pedal pump up to me. if you set the pedal too high then the master cant go back far enough to release the pressure when you let off so it "pumps up" pressure and then acts liek the clutch is pressed and slips

I know it's been a while, but it was the pump up issue. I adjusted it out, and I have freeplay again and it's consistent and doesn't get stiff at all; however, the pedal pressure likes to get really light out of nowhere. Turning, going straight... doesn't matter. It feels like it loses pressure. Once I let the clutch back out and push down again, it's fine.

Could that be a leaky/bad master??

I work out one problem, only to find another. Ahhh! DSMs!
