I drive a '96 GST Spyder with an alarm. I lock the door using either the remote or the power door lock button inside the door. So far, it works right... the doors lock, the green security light comes on, and the map lights flash.

But, when I push the unlock button on the remote, it unlocks the door, but it doesn't flash the map lights or disarm the factory alarm, so when I go to open the door, the alarm goes off.

I tried using the driver's door key slot to disarm the alarm both before opening the door, and also while the alarm is sounding, but that didn't work and I had to use the passenger side to disarm it (which did work).

Thoughts as to the cause of the malfunction?

Also... I have discovered that my remote will unlock the driver door on the first push of the button (as it is supposed to), but the alarm stays armed and then it will not unlock the passenger door on the second cpush of the button.

My alarm is the factory alarm that comes on a '96 turbo spyder.

I'll have to check that out...

Any ideas though why my passenger side key slot will work, but my driver side won't disable the alarm or even unlock the door ?

Sorry, I really don't know. I thought that only the driver's door lock could deactivate the alarm. Maybe the previous owner wired in some aftermarket accessory at the ECU and messed up the wiring. But that's pure speculation.

My guess the switch on the back of the driver door cylinder is bad or disconvested. Also could be a broken wire in the door harnes. When you deacitvate your alarm are you opening it from the inside? I see you have a sypder.

i had a similar problem i checked my fuses and replaced a burned one i forgot which it was exactly but i know it was the reason my passenger side door wasnt unlocking with the switch. give it a try.

Update: I replaced my driver door power lock/window switch module (to fix a window issue), but no effect on the alarm symptoms.

i dont know if will help but my alarm only will tern off when its going off if i unlock it manually from the driver side only, try that and see if it makes it turn off and then try with the remote

did you ever solve this problem? i have the same thing happening with my alarm minus the driver side not working to disable it.

im having problems with my alarm system as well. today, for some odd reason i decided to use the automatic switch by the power window switches. my alarm will not turn off no matter what i try. i even took the fuse out from the fuse box under the dash. WTF any ideas on how to fix this? i dont have a horn, so only my lights flash for 3 minutes, but its annoying as hell. any help is greatly appreciated.

My alarm works but when i lock the doors the lights don't flash. Its not a huge deal but i was wondering if there was a switch unplugged or something. I have hid headlights but that shouldn't effect the alarm turning them on because they flash when the alarm goes off.
