It all started when i tried to start the car today. It wouldnt start so dad unhooked the battery and cleaned off the terminals. When he went to reconnect it, it made a beeping noise for a second. The battery was connected and i went to open the door and when i pulled the handle, the alarm went off. It just would not shut up. We ended up disconnecting the battery and rolling the car into the garage. I know the alarm system is not a factory system b/c there is this little red light in the car near the shifter that flashes whenver the alarm is going off. When we bought the car they didnt tell us about any alarm at all on the car so i dont really know what is going on. Hopefully someone on here will know about car alarms.

ok if it's an aftermarket alarm there should be a button somewhere on the dash that will allow you to disarm the car. it's usually red. a small button. hope that helps. pressing that button should disarm teh alarm.

There is a red button that flashes whenever the alarm is triggered, but when i press it nothing happens. It is really pissing me off b/c it wont shut up.+

make sure your key is in the on postion when you press it, most those buttons only work if the key is in the ignition and on.

ok this sounds a little silly, but "dont push the led"!
If it is flashing, it is probably the led

there is usially a little spring loaded button in black or red somewhere under dash in glovebox or in a kick panel some place. (its supposed to be discrete and not noticable so doubt it lights up)

if you find it, turn key to on and try pressing several times (3-4 on nost systems) to disarm the alarm.

That or trace the led wire back to the brain and unplug the dumb thing, or its fuse.

You miht have to bypass a starter relay if it had one, but you will be done with the thing.

Bypassing the alarm is only a temp measure so you can drive, the alarm will reset as soon as you turn off the key and you will have to go thru the procedure again every time you start the car.

If whoever sold you the car doesn't have any info about the alarm, its probably best to take the whole thing out and start fresh. Pull apart your center console and trace the flashing light all the way to the alarm main unit and remove it.

we disconnected the speaker that made the annoying sound so that we could work in scilence. we tried to take out the fuses and that didnt work. we took out the center consol and there was nothing in there. we would disconnect it but we cannot find the brain of the thing. i cant find ne kind of button to turn it off or ne thing. anyone else have some ideas?

We found the brain and it turns out that it is a factory alarm system but it is not arming and disarming the way that the manual says it should. We disconnected it and now the car wont start.

I don't know much about the factory alarms, but theres probably one wire that goes from the brain to the siren. Just cut it so the noise won't bother you and you can drive the car. Invest some $$$ in a decent alarm. Most aftermarket alarms when installed will bypass the factory alarm completely, which is exactly what you would want to do.

I did disconnect the siren but u cannot start the car when the alarm is going off. when the alarm is triggered, it disables the starter too. and unpluging the brain messes everything up.

do u think that would be the problem? Is that the same thing that is on 2gs?

i know this may sound silly, but did you put your key in the drivers door and unlock it? if it's factory, that's how you dissarm it. (electronic switch made by keyway)

there is also a fuse for the alarm in the fuse block at the drivers panel.

tHAT WOULD BE THE CORRECT WAY TO DISARM IT, plus you get to keep the alarm!
Now just reprog a remote to it and youi are all good.

Well as i said before, i tired to disarm it by unlocking the door and that didnt work. Also, when u take the fuse out the car wont start at all.

Its either that or somthing very similar, I think. Try getting one of those bypass kits that are mentioned in the article, though I'm not sure where to find them. Maybe a car stereo shop?

Anybody else take a look at this article? Any Suggestions?

Another idea I had:

Maybe you can fool the alarm to think that it hasn't been triggered. When you open your door, on the doorjam there should be a little black plunger thing. On the inside of your car (You will have to pull up your carpet a little bit) you should see some wires that go into the plunger thing. Use a circuit tester and find the one that is ONLY grounded when the door is opened. This wire should be hot when the door is closed. When you have that wire cut it away and splice it into a wire that is always HOT whether the door is opened or closed. Oh yeah, unplug the battery first, hehe. This way, maybe your alarm will think your door is always closed, when its not. The downside is that your dome light won't work, but at least you can drive your car, I hope.

What do you think evryone? Think it will work?
