Was wondering if you put your fans on a switch, could it cause a weird power drain? Is it better to have the ecu control it? Best size wire to use, is 12 guage car wire alright?

It's best to let the ECU control the fans as not everyone remembers to turn the fans on. If you do wire it in, make sure to get a coolant temp gauge and a warning light wouldn't be a bad idea either. 12g wire would be more than enough depending on the amperage of the fans being used. I would still wire in a relay system so you only turn the fans on when the ignition is switched, although it may not be needed depending on why you are doing this.

A drain would only occur if the switch was left on which would then cause your fans to pop on if it was straight wired from the battery--switch--fan--ground.

The only time i've ever wired my fans out of the stock system, was to wire them to come on with the ignition. That car had serious wiring issues and that was the best i could come up with.

Like X said, people can easily forget to flip a switch if they are distracted, then there goes your motor. Unless you are having issues that can't be corrected easily, just leave them be and let the stock system control them.

I bought a talon where the previous ower cut up most of the wiring, I ended up wiring a switch to turn on the fans and had it connected through a relay so when I powered off the car the fans would turn off also if I left the switch on. Use an ignition wire as your switch for the relay.

The fans work off the smaller sensor in the thermostat housing, correct? Mines rtv'd off. Since it broke and leaked. I might just get a new thermostat housing for looks anyways since I'm buying a new head soon, this one's covered in rtv.

Should your fans act as a pusher or a puller of air on the radiator. I am planning on getting two 12" fans for my radiator and the description of the fans says that they act as a puller from the factory.

Pullers will be more efficient as there is blockage for incoming airflow through the radiator like a pusher does.

Make sure to use the correct fan as not all work the same since the fan blade angles differently for pushing and pulling.

Some fans can be a pusher or puller fan. You just reverse the power and ground wires and flip the fan blades. The only real reason to install a pusher fan would be to either assist in a cooling effect of a puller fan or to make more room for turbo setups.

If the ECU control dont work, hooke them up on their own relay and wire that into an ignition source to turn them on.. Cheap, simple, easy, and worry free.
