Hey guys I have been having an on going problem with the stick rims. Being a college student I don't really have money to spend on new rims but about 4 months ago I spent 500 dollars to replace a bent rim and two bad tires.
I am now having the rattling problem at between 75-80mph I did before.
So I took the car in to see if a balance would sovle the problem. Then I find that I have two more bent rims and another bad tire.

Is this a problem that a lot of people have had?
I mean these aluminum rims have to be very flimsy in order to bend so easily!!

Any one else ever had this prob. and is there anything you can do with a bent rim?
PLEASE ANY HELP IS NEEDED HERE!!!!

thanks mike

Do you live in an area with extremely bad potholes? Do you run the stock tire size? Lastly do you keep your tire pressure set correctly?

I have the 17" factory alluminum talon rims also and have not had any problems since i bought the car with bent or dinged rims. When i bought the car the rims where in shitty condition and i cleaned and fixed them. you may consider just getting some after market rims. That 500 you spent would have bought you a set of 17" rota's.

I also have 18" rims that i run in the summer and have had no dings dents or scrapes. Maybe your area is worse then mine or maybe you just need to pay more attention to potholes. You can't go 80 mph into a huge pothole without 1. hurting a rim 2. messing up your alignment.

also have you looked at your rotors. the stock rotors are crap. i warped mine in the first 3 months i had the car.

The last thing would be that the shop you go to doesn't do a high speed balance. Or their taxing you because they can.

good luck. :)

you found someone to fix your alloy's, the shop I took mines too said they can't fix them because when they bend them back, they just break quicker. my two front tires are off balance, i tried alignment, didn't fix it, but then i got two new tires and blanced them and worked out pretty well. but now it's already messed up again, kind of :thumbdown

Well guys, here is what i am running.

I am running the same thing as when i first got the car. I have the 16" stock rims running 205/55/16 tires on them. Being that I commute a couple times a week I make sure that the tire pressure is at 35 all the time.

As far as the pot holes I live in south Dakota and the potholes are terrible here but I avoid them whenever possible or try to go as slow as possible over them.

Are aftermarket aluminum wheels stronger than the stock aluminum?

Any suggestions?
