Stock radio ?

What are the cords on the back of the stock radio for? I went to go and hook up my aftermarket deck untill I seen all them cords. Could someone break it down for me and tell me what they are for and if I need them for my new deck. Thanks

Don't cut any wires. Use this device instead. Head to an audio store for this adapter harness which contains the complete color code to hook up an aftermarket audio device to a stock wiring system.Metra Electronics - Products ..

Now, don't know if this same color code is for 2G vehicles or if this adapter plug would be the same as for 1G's , but still head to an audio store and ask what would work for your stock wiring system.

this makes the job tons easier.

+1 but just so you know you can buy them at wallmart.They are cheap and it does make it a lot easier to install a new cd deck.

One thing to add, is that you might be curious about the two wires that have what look like headphone jacks on them. Both of those are antennas. I'm not sure which is the window antenna, and which is the stalk antenna, but they both work just fine.

Ok thanks, I was never going to cut up my wireing. I hate when people do that to there cars. I seen the harness from walmart, but it just looked kinda cheap IMO. But could there be a reason why I only get am now on my stock radio? Fm does not come in anymore.

The Scosche harness is really a decent product. It takes a little common sense, and it will wind up locking the wires down a bit as far as mobility, but it is a really well made product.

Walmart harness works nice...I got mine there and have had no probs for 7 months

.. Check the antennae connection to the radio. AM being a more lower frequency can be picked up with just the connection itself, but FM definitely needs a length of wire since the frequency is much higher..

..or the FM circuitry in the radio has died ... and that can happen as well.

I took out both antennas and put them back in, I guess I can give the walmart harness a try, it's only like 9 bucks.
