I had to put a new ECU in my car last week and when I turned my car back on the radio obviously asked for the code, I put the code in wrong 3 times (I know the code, but was out of it that day I guess).

So I unplugged the battery for 30 minutes to reset the radio and it didn't work, it still said off. So I unplugged it for an hour, same thing, then I unplugged the battery and the radio from my car for 12 hours.... same thing, still says OFF.

I called the mitsu dealership and he had no idea (great help they are)

So, I was wondering if anyone else has ran into this problem? If so, How to fix it.

Thanks in advance, Matt

Leave the key turned to accessories so the radio says off. Don't touch it for an hour and come back. Should be good to re-enter the code then. I just did this a couple weeks ago.

ok... Im going to get made fun of real bad right here. I think i did it on both clicks of the ignition... but which one is ACC :( sorry. Please don't ban!

Go to the second click, then.

Sorry we don't have the procedure memorized (or, are as lazy as you about using the search to find it), but we don't need more than four tries to get the code punched in. Like some people.

No names, of course.

cough.

Remove the battery terminals for an hour and then you should be able to put it in. Thats what the good ol folks at my local mitsu dealer told me. I dont know why it still says off after 12 hrs. I think a quicker way to doing that would be to pull the IOD fuse, you could try that. In my experience it takes about 10 seconds for everything to get erased.

The Mitsu dealer is wrong. I've tried that before. You just have to leave the ignition turned on to the point that the radio is lit up with the word oFF. Then wait 45min - 1 hour. Then you should be able to power on the radio and it will display code again.

Ive done everything that has been said to do so far on here. Ive unplugged the battery, the radio, left the car on ACC for an hour, still nothing. I dont get it. It cant be broken because it is displaying something.

What Defiant says... Leave the key to the ON Position without the engine being on... check back in an hour and 15 or so... just as long as you pass the hour mark and then dont touch the ignition... press the power button and it should turn on and say CODE once again.
