I tried getting ideas from gvr4.org but no one seemed interested in helping.

So I just acquired a 1990 galant it currently is a 2.0 non turbo FWD. the previous owner
Wanted to compete in the 4 cyl. Class at our local circle track, the car is gutted and completely factory from 1990. He ran one race and his radiator sprung a leak and he overheated and warped the head and it is not repairable. He said screw imports and asked me if I wanted it because I'm the "Mitsubishi guy" LOL he gave me the car for $300

Now here is the difficult part for me, I can't just put a head on it and race simply because I would lose.
I watched the race it was in last time and they mixed the 4cyl and 6cyl. There were two cars lapping everyone there was a 300zx and a tarus sho.

I looked at the galant and I think if I can find a 1g turbo fwd for a donar car that the galant could possibly be a contender. It's a bit bigger then a dsm so getting bumped and rubbing would be better suited for the galant.

How far could I go with a gst built with "stock" parts. The thing is the track rules allow for motor swaps as long as it is he same manufacturers so I see the opportunity to push a 16g galant as far as I can while making it retaining all factory parts. Your opponents at the track are allowed to call you out for not being stock and if you are under ridicule you have to disassemble your car all the way to the pistons and rods

Well I am up for ideas on how to raise boost levels and keep the car factory but make it fast and agile

And is it even possible to swap a 4g63 into the shell and what kind of gearing options do I have

Now here is the thing I heard that there is a guy running a turbo on an eclipse I did not see it when I was there however the rule book does say no to turbos and awd. I will call the track and ask for an official opinion

Somewhere on this forum is a member racing a 1g on circle track...
Doing rather well with it..
I'm on my phone or I'd search for it

If I run race gas I think with a 16g and stock parts I could get close to 300hp and black poly bushings would be a nice light weight and well handling package
