stock muffler question

hi, from what i can see on my car, the muffler is connected to a short pipe that connects to the rest of the exhause system by bolts. Will removing the muffler and this short amount of pipe yeild any hp gains? mabe just a little if anything??

it will remove some back pressure but be rediculously loud n/t dsm are really loud and if you do that u will get ticketed there is no real point? best advice get an after market exhuast but full piping and turbo up bro! stay up Ryan


ps. if you want power and dont care bout tickets just un bolt b4 your cat loud as f@!K but youll get about 15 extra horsies

actually, instead of keeping my cat, i was jus going to get a "strait pipe" instead of the cat, and get the intake system for non-turbo cars sold at machv.com , plus like a high flow air filter (but that kit comes with one anyways...) thats my "Plan" as of now. btw selling the car for a turbo'd one is not a option.....

Doing that stuff from Mach V will net you some gain maybe 15-20hp! Not bad if your staying non turbo.

A test pipe and intake will definitly give you some more HP . Just don't cut your muffler off, it makes you look like ricer and thats not a good look for our DSM's

How strict are the cops there where you are at? If they are not too bad go for it. If they are, then buy a used 14b and turbo your friggin car! Just don't turn the boost up past about 4 lbs.
