1G Stock looking exhaust?

Hey all,

I am looking to buy an aftermarket exhaust for my AWD 1g. I want to keep the look stock and not have an exhaust too loud because I am going for the sleeper look. I've heard that the Greddy Evo has a nice soft tone until WOT, but I am looking for something that looks more stockish. Any ideas? Thanks

You could just get 3" custom piping made then use your stock muffler -
If its too loud through some resinators (sp?) in the mix

Very true. Do you think the stock muffler will be too restrictive though?

I am not 100 percent sure but I think you could hollow it out.

Yeah you can hollow it out. It probably will still be loud though, since a hollowed out muffler isnt going to muffle anything. Anything with good flow is going to be somewhat loud.

If you really want to be stealth then get a good O2 housing and DP. Then instead of a test pipe buy an electric cutout and keep the stock cat back. Driving around you wil have the stock exhuast and sound, but when the time comes to go, you just open the cut out and you have a good free flowing exhaust. Just my .02

I am glad that you brought that point up. I have always had a question about that setup.

When you are cruising around with the cutout closed then it is running like stock, right?

So when you open it up and all that exhaust goes out the cutout then won't the second O2 sensor read lean (less exhaust is being seen by the sensor), so the ECU would dump more fuel to compensate for that right? So you wouldn't you be running rich and slow.

Just a question.

bypass the 2nd o2 sensor before you get your exhaust

The second o2 sensor doesn't do anything. It just checks that the cat is doing its job. If it isnt, it makes a light go on for the emissions people. Thats it.

You have to think about boost creep with that setup though without any restrictions in the exhaust its going to creep on you pretty bad.
