I have a spare 2G head sitting in my living room for a future project that may or may not happen. Anyway, it was recently rebuilt and resurfaced by the previous owner a couple hundred miles ago. I'm wondering if I can still use the stock composite headgasket (which I already have, along with a set of ARP's), or if I should go with something a little thicker (like the mitsu metal head gasket). I'm not sure how much was taken off of the head when it was rebuilt. I'm pretty sure the metal gasket is going to be overkill, because I don't ever plan on running more than 17psi. There's a ROL gasket that's being sold on partsdinosaur.com that's thicker and meant for resurfaced heads, but wasn't sure what the general consensus is on those (or any other basically stock application head gasket to use with a resurfaced head).

I'd suggest to always use a new headgasket. What kind is up to you, but a Mitsu metal one is pretty reliable.

Throw on the ARPs and a mitsu 4 layer and don't worry about it again. You might as well spend another $40 or so and get the stronger head gasket for piece of mind. Who knows, you might end up catching the big power bug and wanting a bigger turbo and more boost!! ROFL

I was just wondering if the compression would be bumped up enough to make any difference due to the resurfacing.
