Well thanks for all the advice everyone! I've decided to probably go with the BBP catback exhaust from eBay (and maybe do a full system when my '79 z28 camaro is fixed up), the momo wheels, a cheap cold air intake from eBay (with a K&N filter though) and NOT do the body kit. Then if anything else just get the dents worked out of it and maybe put a wire mesh grill in the front with the Fallen shoes emblem painted in the middle of it. I've come to love the stock look of it so I'll just do a few performance things like a true DSM'r. Thanks for all the help!
I havent chosen a muffler yet so I would actually appreciate some input on a good low throaty muffler to get from the pros?
Hi, I'm new to all of this but, I have a stock 97 RS eclipse and am currently looking at getting a cold-air intake and a new exhaust system that isnt crazy expensive but still functions properly and sounds good. Also looking into getting 16 or 17" momo RPM wheels and a VISracing battle z body kit at some point, but I'm more concerned with getting the intake and exhasut for the moment. I would appreciate it if someone could help me decide the best working cold-air intake and best sounding exhaust system. thanks.
Oh believe me I'd absolutely love a 97-99 GS-T or GSX. But I'm in high school with a minimum wage job with hardly any hours, in the middle of a rebuild ('79 Z28 Camaro its in a bunch of pieces and needs a lot of parts), and I don't wanna go into debt buying my dream car. Not to mention everywhere I look at one its either wrecked, way to modded (retarded body kits, stupid paint jobs, etc.), way to clean to think about getting, or way too far away to go get. I think after my camaro is all put back together I'll save up some money and get a rebuilt 4g63 with a trans. and swap out my 420a, and get the GSX spolier too.Id say keep it as stock as possible, if you want the minor mods that's cool, but I think if you just add the gst GSX high rise spoiler and lower you'll have a cleaner look that'll draw less attention. I also started off with an rs but once I got a hold of a gst I never looked back, so keep your options open.

Not to be negitive but that swap would be very hard but it is doable if you have the time, money, and skills to fab all your parts and wire up the harness.
My advice is to find a 1G project car like i am doing ATM. I found a 4g63T full engine for 150$ (broken timing belt) and im going from there. Hell if i cannot find a 1G or so to put it in, ive thought about putting it in my uncles 87 ford ranger for fun
. But my dad is like a car expert I'm sure if I said to him hey dad I got the 4g63 motor for my eclipse wanna make it it fit? I'm sure hed get it done no problem for me. He had this crazy idea to get a junked 2G DSM like mine and make it rear wheel drive, put a supercharged V8 in it, and make it a drift car. That'd be cool but I love the DSM engines just the way they are.
i seen on google they had a 454 Eclipse
!! Well i didnt say it'd be easy. But my dad is like a car expert I'm sure if I said to him hey dad I got the 4g63 motor for my eclipse wanna make it it fit? Whatever floats your boat. Anything can be done with enough time and money, however a good 4g63 can be bought for probably a couple grand more than a gs/rs which is why people usually don't bother with the swap. You might have a problem with a V8 drifting 2g because you would be wicked heavy in the front since our cars are light in the back it would be easy to break loose but hard to hook up. Interesting side note I stripped my rs for autocross and found that I now cant jack the car from the side without lifting both the front and back tires... pita.Does anyone know about how much it would cost me to do the swap? (Include labor, cost of new motor, anything else I would need)
Also if you want to do the swap then read this thread. it will help you figure out what you will need to cut out of the GSX/GST body you find to make the engine fit right.
4G63 swapped into a 420a Chassis. I need advice. - DSM Forums: Mitsubishi Eclipse, Plymouth Laser, and Eagle Talon Forum: DSMtalk.com
Oh I've decided its a real dumb idea. My dad still wants to do it since everyone says its such a challenge. I'm gonna either rebuild my 420a or buy a crate motor that is a little better than stock and turbo it. I still am gonna buy some wheels and stuff before I do that though, turboing the car will be the last thing I do. That way when I've done that, I'm all done with it.

This is a good read and a must if anyone even TALKS about a 4g swap, cudos my friend.
If you want a challenge why not do a 2.4L swap? At least you wouldn't risk ruining frames or half assing some motor mounts and you would save some money not buying a crate motor.

There's a video on youtube with steps doing the swap. The owner instal the 4g63 in a silver 2g nt.
I would go with a short ram, seen different results between the two on 2gnt.com.
You can find the AEM v2 on ebay brand new at a decent price, same for headers and cat-back. But there's a caution sometimes they don't fit right, keep this is mind.
This is a smudge of hp, you need few more little things to free up air.

Couldn't I just stroke my 2.0 and get the 2.4 that way? Sounds a heck of a lot easier.
