stickiest tires?

^^^they have super super super stiff sidewalls, I don't knwo what part of that you don't get but stuff sidewalls equals the suck when it comes to drag racing. You wnat the tire to absorb as much of the force from launching as it can. Just because they are made from soft rubber does not mean they are good for drag racing.

I wouldn't say they are the best tires, as they are obviously intended for turning rather than going in a straight line. I will say though that they are better than almost any other street tire and have a longer life than any true drag radial so they make a good compromise for a street car that goes straight and turns, yet needs to have the tires last more than 5000 miles.

true only because they are soo much softer than the majority of street tires and that most street tires when deflated(in order to make up for the fact that they have a higher tread wear rating) are useless due to the contact patch of the tires decreasing. But yes, for a dual purpose car I do agree they are a good bang for the buck. Just my personal opinion is that I would rather run something else.

did you ever find out if the mickey thompsons were 225 or 255? i think it would fit either way. i went to exospeed to find some tires and wheels and they are kinda expensive but im not to sure if i want to go with the lenso vpd with 24x8.5x13? i believe the 13s with the 24in tire would fit under my fender well. does n e body know the width of our stock rim? i have the honeycomb(nasty in my opinon)rims. if that is the case you could probally get a set of 13x8.5 rim pretty cheap. let me know what you guys think.

I couldn't check since they're closed on sundays and mondays too i think. I'll check on tuesday though.

255's will NOT fit on the stock wheels, I know 2g fwd wheels are 6.5" wide and I am guessing 1g's are the same width. and yes a 24" slick would fit under the wheel well.

so that would mean i need to find a 24x6.5x13 or maybe 14?do they even make a slick that is only 6.5 wide? i think the smallest one i found was like 7.5-8in wide. it would probally be better to go with a 13in wheel than a 14in wheel with slicks wouldnt it? a little less rotating mass. either way is fine by me.im just tired of roasting the damn tires off the line and through some of second gear. yeah sure its cool when your showing your buddies that you can white smoke em but that does nothing but hurt your e.t's

you could fit a 7" slick on the stock wheels possibly a 7.5 but you would be pushing it. plus I don't know if they make a 24xXXx16 slick so who knows. As for wheels you just have to find a rim that will clear the brakes, I would go with a 14 but that's me. YOu would have to get savy with spacers to run a 13" wheel on a dsm.

Broken, what Dunlops do you use the 9000's or the FM901's. I use the FM901's for auto-x and drag racing. I've cut 1.655 60' times with them. Awesome tires.

How bout you just chew on bubble gum for a year and just keep adding a few pieces to your tire everyday, then they will be nice and sticky. :p
Seriously what type of driving, drag or corners?

i believe they are 9000's. They are 9somethings, cant really remember, the tread design is real funky.

anyone have any feedback for me on Yokohama ES100's ?

im thinking about getting a set of those for my 99gsx, but i cant find any feedback about them . . . thanks

I have them and swear by them. They are a great gripping tire, last long....and you can't really beat the price.

I almost got them before getting the azenis, if my car saw more driving duty i would have went with them. As it is though anytime its not sunny the talon stays parked.

There is no good "street" tire that you can have alot of fun with, that's meant for launching a FWD car. And by fun, I mean actually driving your car around some turns.

You have to make compromises.

In my case, with a 500whp+ FWD, I went with 245-45-17 Azenis. They hook decent in 2nd gear on my pump gas tune. They might not be as good as drag radials off the line, but you DO get benefits from a sticky tire in more than just 60ft time. I would assume I could get 1.9's pretty easy with these tires (I used to get 1.9's on 225-50-16 Nitto Drag radials, REAL EASY), which is just fine with me for a FWD street tire. Complemented by the fact that the car is ROCK SOLID at higher speed turns. Car sticks like glue.

So my Azenis hook better than the drag radials, no doubt due to the extra width. They give me confidence in high speed corners that the Nitto's didn't. I'll have track times on them within 2 months or so I'd hope.
