just wanted to know what all you guys are running. i am lookin into gettin some bfgoodrich g-force t/a drags but if there is a stickier tire i would rather have that one. also can you guys give me some advice on what size tire to get. sounds funny but bfgoodrich doesnt make a drag radial in a 16 inch rim. is that right? i went to discount tire and the only ones they showed where from a 15-18 totally skipping the 16 inch rim. what size of mickey thompsons would i use with the stock rim (205/55/16 i believe) n e help would be greatly appreciated. Please dont burn me, i am a newbie trying to get to that 11 sec. goal.

FWD, AWD?

I'm AWD and use dunlop sp sports. Very sticky tire. Good for street and track.
Broken, what Dunlops do you use the 9000's or the FM901's. I use the FM901's for auto-x and drag racing. I've cut 1.655 60' times with them. Awesome tires.

How bout you just chew on bubble gum for a year and just keep adding a few pieces to your tire everyday, then they will be nice and sticky. :p
Seriously what type of driving, drag or corners?

he has a 91 Laser so its FWD (AWD Laser came in 92-94). He is obviously into drag because he is considering Slicks and DR. I know the Nitto makes a drag radial as for slick i have no idea but you could call them up and they can easily tell you what slick to use on ur wheels :dsm:

Thanks for the info on the laser, I knew they came awd i didn't know it was specific years.
Does he want a tire he can use everyday and drag on Or does he want pure slicks for the track where he changes his wheels when he gets there? M/T makes some very good slicks, I've seen a couple of FWD DSM's running some fat M/Ts on there cars and pulling some nasty 60' times.

I swear by Falken Azenis sports, cant go wrong for their price. Really nice sticky tires.

i really wanted to go with the bfgoodrichs g-force t/a d.r. but they dont make them in my stock size so either i need to go with a different rim or go with a different tire. i want them for drag racing. it doesnt really matter if i have to go full blown slick and take them off when i head home or a good set of drag radials to drive there and them drive home. depending on the price difference. i like the hoosier bogart setup idea. do those bogart wheels fit pretty good? do you have a pic? i would like to see that or n e other setups you guys are running. i would also like to get into the high 1.9x 60' times if possible

I don't have any pics. but if you go to Hoosier's website they have an Integra w/ a similar setup as mine. If you want 1.9x 60' times you gonna need a good suspension setup along with tires and of course alot of practice. :thumb:

I LOVE my Potenza S0-3's!!!! This tire flat out sticks to the road around corners and is very, very predictable when push to the limits. These tires make a poor suspension setup seem decent, and make a good setup super-impressive. Straight line grip is pretty darn good too. Not drag radial good, but best all around tire you can get IMO. If its a street tire you are looking for then the S0-3's are the one for you.

Oh yeah, this is all compared to my old Khumo 712s. I'll never go back to the so-called value-performance tires. :thumbdown

I'd look into some hoosiers if you're talking track-only tires.

What would be the best tire though if you still plan on driving your car on the streets too?

my guess is that the track only tires will probablly get me better 60' times than the street drag radial would. buy my concern is how much is the price difference?for the street drag radial i could just use my stock rims, the track only tires i would prolly have to find a different set of rims to throw them on. granted it only has to be two instead of four.i would like the track only tires over the street drag radials. wouldnt i break stuff if the track only tires grip and dont give? that would mean something else would have to give,(being my axles more than likely)

Are you looking for a track-only set of tires, or a daily-driver set that is good at the track too?

A set of daily drivers that is good for the track too.

well the problem is noone makes a 16" dr is the stock or close to stock size for a dsm. So you either have to run 15" wheels all the time and then run dr's on them or run 17's with dr's on them. That or you just buy a dedicated set of slicks/dr's on 15" wheels that are like 9" wide so you can fit a huge tire on it. But if you are going to do a track only set up you might as well just go with the slicks since they will net you better times. go with a 24x8.5xwhatever size rim you will be running. I was thinking of picking up a set of gsx wheels just so I could run dr's on my car during everyday street driving. With a nice set of slicks, and a nice set of dr's expect to hit low 1.8-1.9 60fts.

sweet, that is what i was looking for. i will go with the hoosiers. can the 24x8.5x15 fit my stock rim? i know that was a dumb qustion. where can i find bogart wheels to fit my car and what size should i be looking for. thanx for all the help guys.

uh unless dsms came with 15's then no, I guess you could always run a 24x8.5x16 on the stock rim you might be pushign it but it could be done. As for wheels hit up summit racing to get some, bogarts are nice but you can find wheels for way cheaper.

But they suck for drag racing in a fwd car.

my 2.2 60's on an open diff disagree, with an lsd i'd see 2.0 very easily i believe.

Mickey Thompson makes a drag radial in 225-50-16. Perfect for our cars. The local speedshop has 4 of them if you can't find them anywhere else.

is it an actual dr or is it an auto x tire, I would be very interested in a set if they are actual drag radials. I am at the point where driving street radials around is useless because anythign over 40% throttle just spins the tires.

The mickey's are a drag radial, touching them makes my azenis feel hard in comparison. I'm sure they'd be uber-sticky at the track.

Looks like all they stock are the 255-50-16's now probably for the mustang crowd since i think that's what my dad used to run on his, size-wise at least. I'll check with the local speedshop this week to see exactly what size it is that they have, but i swore it was 225.
