if u say soIm not sure if you have ever heard of these companies.
but im going to be running 2 dc audio level 4xls. off of a true 4k rms amp.
dual runs of 1/0 awg from the front to my rear battery bank. a h/o alty.
i will be competing with this setup as well as using it for a daily.
if you havent heard of the subs before look em up. bout 55 lbs a piece. now thats some serious motor force and will blow away a w7 any day
.That is some nice equipment you are going to get.
I'm guessing you are going to port those subs, I don't know what the specs for the box are but are you sure they will fit in your trunk in a properly sized box?
maybe you are taking out the backseats?
In my 1g I ran 2 12's (type r) for a while and I had to put them in a sealed box to get them to fit. It sounded ok.
Now I run 1 10" dd 9510g in a ported box (1.5 ^3) and it sounds so much better than those 2 12s ever did.
I recommend that you run whatever you can fit properly, don't try and put the subs in boxes that are out of spec. Go smaller if you have to it will sound better.
Lots of mainstream companies around here huh?
They got to be big names for a reason. Most of the mainstream has turned crap, yes. Sony used to be a respected company. All they make now that is good is the ps3. Then there are the companies like JL and Rockford who do care about their workmanship and sound quality, and don't appear they will change anytime soon. Those small companies that do some home audio stuff with vacuum tube amps and speakers that cost yearly salaries are just overkill on price for little quality gain. They fail because there is no reason for them and you have companies like Bose who make damn god stuff, yet still expensive, but is proven and researched like hell.
I was just looking for a thread about this. I just had all my interior out to redo it so I just layed dynamat around the floor, doors, trunk, roof. I have a polk audio component speakers/tweeters for the front, pioneer deck, and a kenwood 1kwatt mono for the sub. Looking for recommendations for 1 12 in the back.
My dd is running at .75 ohms off of a RD 1750.1. I'm guessing it gets around 1800 rms or so at around 14 volts.
Your setup is going to sound insane. And good choice again with those subs.
I recommend that you also upgrade your alternator if you haven't done that already. Look into the saturn alternator swap if you don't know about it, you can get high amp saturn alternators on ebay reasonable prices last time I checked. Its not too hard to do.
Good luck
A w7 is not what I am after. I am not after loud. A w7 IS a waste of money. I'm after clarity and not needing a bigger alternator. You can't get clarity when the sound is on the verge of deafening you. JL has never left me disappointed. How do you think they got money to advertise in the first place? If competition is what you are after or only loudness, then yeah, it's easy for small brand to accomplish this, but companies like JL, Rockford, etc. make good shit for people who don't care about wattage and loudness. I will not even have more than 300 watts RMS for my whole system. It's unnecessary. I wouldn't consider JL to be that mainstream. Mainstream to me is retail stuff like Kenwood, Alpine, Sony, Pioneer. They make good electronics, except Sony, but they all don't make very good speakers. I'm in no way wanting this to sound like I am bashing you or the products you like. You seem to have an idea of what you want in a system, as do I. I will be listening to classic rock, no rap, no bass-pedal satan music, nor and bassy kinda RHCP crap.
So many people per capita are going to be deaf 30 years from now than as many 30 years ago.
